Hi Guys, Norm(Wanderer) was gonna try and get guys together for a ride or two or three... starting with the Berkshire Trail Riders Assoc Spring 2014 kick-off event May 17-18 in Tolland, MA. Norm has since been strapped w/ work obligations so I thought I’d get this started from here.

Here is info on the event, there is sign-up/registration info there as well. http://www.mudslinger.org/national-adventure/index.html

I’m signed up/registered as I see is another NE S10 rider from this forum - Offcamber from NH. This is a big bike friendly event. Let’s see what we can do to get a good representation of NE S10 Riders. Would love to meet you guys, ride and hang out.

You may have seen info on this local AMA event on ADVrider: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=948320

I’m planning to primitive camp at the event start field location.

Hope to see you all there. ::003::

Regards, dean ::001::

Mike (husband) and I will be there. Probably not on the S10 though. I will be on a DR650 and he will be on a Wee. No dirt tires on the S10 right now.
That could change though.
We're heading to The Blue Ridge Parkway in 2 weeks for a week of riding, and I'll prob need new tires after that :)

MM, Sounds good, would love to meet you guys ::003::, cool u can make the Berkshire Trail Riders event, I expect the mud to fully b out by then. Not sure where u r in NY but would like to see what you've found for nice routes like anything upstate. I have a route planned for the Catskills this yr and havn't been out there b4. Do you ride w/ the NER(New England Riders) group, they're very active all around, I know they get all out thru upstate as well.

Norm(Wanderer) is looking to set up a ride to Copake SP(NY) I think he said mid-May? Have u been out there? Anyway I expect to join him on that.

I visit a friend in Buffalo every yr and go up thru VT-across the lake on a ferry, camp in the Adirondacks out and back, it's a yrly tradition/adventure.
How many miles do you guys have on the S10s?

Hey have a great run down/up the BRP, one of my fav rides and a real treasure here in the East, just a beautiful area on, and off, the parkway!

Happy Trails. ::012::
Cheers, dean ::001::

Once the weather improves take a ride up north, there are some great roads in VT. I hate to setup formal rides and dates....I prefer Ad hoc....However I think some RTE's are in order.

I'll let him communicate on the details as the time comes.

oc, look fwd to catching up w/ u for a ride. I do a run up thru VT, 2-3days border to border S/N/S, at least once every yr, I ride a good portion of the PDR for that.
I get up to Newport NH quite often, how far is that from u do u kno?

I was thinking of hitting both Newport and southern PDR here very soon actually and was talking to Norm(Wanderer) about that today, he said he likes and has ridden VT a lot. ::008::

I'll b sure and let u kno when I head up that way. ::003::

:question: Btw how r the dirt roads up by u, r they thawed or what conditions right now? Do u kno if there is any sort of schedule to dirt road maintenance? I came across some newly graded dirt late in the fall, it was really soft -on that skinny little road along the Green River down south- it was kinda dicey.

cheers, dean ::001::

Newport is about 30-40 minutes away from me.

As for the dirt roads we are just getting into Mud Season....yes we have 5 season up here. The back roads are shit right now...unless you like mud bogs I'd stay away till the snow melts. I still have over a foot in my yard. Road work and grading probably won't begin until after Memorial day, but I have not specific knowledge just my guesstimate. The paved roads took it really hard this winter. Look for a lot of road repair everywhere. I rode my KLR the other day and it was like off-roading on pavement.

Let me know when you come up this way we'll try to hook up.

Hey RidingupandDown,
Haven't been on here in a while.
We're on Long Island:(
Not great dirt riding around here, but my son and I have been out east the last couple weekends, in the pine barrens.
Lots of fun.
We ride up in Vermont, and are looking forward to checking out the PDR this Summer.
We're in southern VT when we are up there, and we ride the forest roads and other dirt roads.
Looking forward to the BBA next weekend.
Change of plans, Mike (husband) will be on a KLR650 instead of the Wee, since we're going to trailer them up.

These are what we will be riding.
See you up there, can't wait:)
