Hi everyone
After a lot of test rides on variuos bikes I finally took the plunge and bought this Super Tenere. What a bargain. Ok it doesn't have the outright power of some of the others but I reckon it's got plenty enough and at £5K less than some it's a real bargain. I got it this weekend from Blades of Swindon. I've spent the day looking at what I need to do before I get out on any trips. Satnav, topbox, panniers, extra lights? I've already been looking through here for solutiions and it looks like I'm at the right place for advice. I've been riding a BMNW K1300S for the last few years and been all over Europe and the UK doing 15-20K miles a year. I organise rides for my local IAM group, this'll be the first tenere amongst them.
Ok so what do I call it? super ten, s10, tenere?? I'm really looking forward to getting out and about on this bike, I'm just waiting for the first frost free day I can get off work and I'll be taking a ride into the Brecons to give it a shake down.

Charlie

Perhaps we shall see you at the Super Sausage, or one of the other local biker haunts sometime?

Welcome form the Washington DC area. The search function works well here and there's a lot of experience with the different farkles.

We've got number of owners with well over 100,000 miles now, so the bike should be perfect for your wanderings. Pay attention to the spoke tensions for the first 10,000 miles or so and loosely tie them where they cross on the rear wheel.

Welcome aboard! I tend to call it a Tenere, or ST frequently here on the board (I'm lazy when I type...). I've also named my bike the Blue Rhino...

I was thinking of offering to organise something for next summer...UK or Europe.

I do want to do a full round the NW tip of Scotland.

Also, I did a great trip to the Rhine and Moseley last year which I want to repeat.

Howdy from the Cotswolds.

Traded my S10 earlier this year, but had done a lot of mods to it, if you fancy a run to Skins Café (and bike gear shop) in Towcester when it de-frosts I would be happy to share wisdom over a cuppa.

Great bike, I had 4 very happy years on mine, the longest I had ever kept a bike. Only shifted it on due to a deal I could not resist rather than planning to change it.

My first bit of advice is to go and explore all them little side roads and back lanes you used to ride past / avoid on the K, you should find a world of pleasure on the little travelled roads you have been ignoring.

Rasher, I'll take you up on that cuppa offer when you are ready. It's funny you mention those little back lanes. I've a reputation for leading people down single track roads with grass down the middle, muck and gravel. Boy they should worry now :))

Welcome from Swansea, enjoy your new S10 (that's what I call mine at least!) If you are going to fit a sat nav drop Bryn a PM on here, he does some braces that stabilize the bar nicely. As for luggage, anything other than the OEM stuff seems ok (locks are pants)

Let me know when you are on your way to Wales, will meet up for a coffee and a scratch around, as Rasher said get off the A roads and onto those unclassified roads, it's transformed my riding, awesome views and they are normally very quiet too ::013::

Great, I expect to be out and about from February if it is mild enough and dry, I am really busy until Xmas and then on Holiday for most of January.

Will drop you a line when I am heading out again.
