Just purchased another bike to keep my Super Tenere company in my garage. It is a 2009 Suzuki Bandit 1250 with ABS. I bought it mostly for my son to ride, but I hope to get out on it from time to time as well. It has high mileage (little over 100,000 kilometres) but has been well maintained and I got it for a great price. I know the previous owner, and sadly he is quite ill and no longer capable of riding. He just wanted to unload it and didn't want the hassle of Kijiji or other marketplace services. I rode it home from the point of purchase, about 50 kilometres away, and was very impressed with the smoothness and torque of the bike. It came with Givi V35 hard cases as well (not shown in the pic.) The aftermarket windscreen was great on the highway. The photo shows my son Alex on the bike last Saturday after I brought it home. It is currently at the dealership having the government-mandated safety check done and new tires installed.

Cheers,

Bruce

I had one of those, best torque of any inline four I ever rode and an all around great bike.

I always thought that would be a fantastic motorcycle. I was always leary of Suzuki since the 80s though. An old GS1100 around 1981 would only go 15,000 miles on a stator. Could get expensive. I've never forgot those motorcycles as much as I loved them and haven't had another Suzuki. Nowadays they good as any manufacturer? I had the one 35yrs ago and got bitten majorly with the electrics. Snake bitten :D
I have never owned a. Suzuki before, so I guess time will tell. Everything I have been reading though, indicates that this is a very reliable machine, much like a Yamaha or Kawasaki. Here's hoping! ;D

I've owned Suzuki's since I started riding 35 years ago, some BMW's in between, but always had a Suzuki in the garage. Never ever had an issue, the S10 is the first Yamaha I've owned, apart from the XJR1300 I owned for 2 months. The Bandit is legendary, bullet proof.

Congrats on the Bandit. Hope you really enjoy it.

Next to Yamaha, Suzuki is my next most owned bike. Nothing to worry about with them now. I do remember a test ride back in the early '80s that had me wondering about their build quality. That was then. I've had some great Suzuki bikes and ATVs over the last 10 years.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I am pretty excited about this bike. I am hoping my son and I can do some rides together this summer.

Cheers,

Bruce

Added a pic after getting the bike back from the dealer. All fluids renewed, new ContiMotion tires installed, insured, plated and ready to roll.

Great bike ! I've always had a soft spot for the big Bandit's, torque upon torque ! With that mileage the motor will be sweet but the suspension may be worth checking over. The stock shock starts to fade and the springs can go soggy in the front after a surprisingly short time. A few friends of mine have had them and report a suspension 'freshen up' transforms the bike. Enjoy it and try not to get too lazy surfing that big wave of torque ::014::
