Since my wife only rides on the Goldwing, I removed the rear seat from my 2017 S10 and fabricated a plate to fit in its place on top of the factory plastic plate under the pass. Seat. I purchased a 12x12“ 5/16“ aluminum plate and shaped it to size and shape I wanted. I then welded up a bracket from 1/8” steel for the front mounting support. I used the two original mounting locations for the rear, I just had to make some spacers to fill the space and get some longer bolts. I then cut 4 slots for tie down straps using my router table and a 1/4“ straight cutting bit, taking small passes until it cut through the plate. After all fabrication was complete I glass beaded the items and powder coated everything satin black to match the panniers. I then applied a piece of GatorSkinz nonskid mat to the plate to keep items from sliding and also scratching the plate. I think it came out pretty good.
