Woodys Wheelworks in Denver will sell you OEM style spokes, 1 or as many as you want.
I think there are 2 different length spokes used in the rear wheel.

Thanks, I emailed them as well. I siliconed the whole bike front and back. To me they should not just fall off. I have been very diligent about these and I have not ridden in the dirt. I think the design is poor to have them coming off so easily. I have never had a bike that throws spokes in the past 30 plus years.

Hi Clem,
There are a few threads on here about losing nipples etc. I experienced it myself, hence the name of my bike, "Ol Nippleslinger" !
I bought front and back stainless spokes from Woody's and I plan on replacing them here shortly and will have a 2 complete wheels worth of spokes and nipples avail.

Take that spoke out, check the others for tightness and you can ride it for a while with out a spoke. I put 2k on mine til I could get it to the dealership etc. Yamaha Good willed me a new swingarm, spokes and rear rim that got all scratched up after I slung the nipple. The spoke actually bent and sounded like I had a baseball card with a clothes pin hanging down there. You should talk to your dealer as well. This has been happening a bunch to some of us on here. Yamaha won't admit they have an issue and has goodwilled parts which is better than nothing. Not enough in my opinion. They should be picking up the whole damn thing but they won't ...That would be admitting liability.....

I will buy some from Ray, as he has some oem. I plan on keeping a closer eye on this, but this is like maintaining a chain now.

I used a dab of permaseal clear on them, as I am too lazy to take them off one at a time and thread lock them. I figure the silicone should prevent them from spinning off, it does not take too much for it to work.

You don't have to take them off to use lock tite on them. I did my spokes many thousand mile ago and they are still the same a when I did it.. I checked them after each long ride.

Just true the wheel first and the spokes sounding very close in pitch. Then I used a hypodermic needle and dropped some lacquer thinner onto the spoke threads. After that dried I used a drop or two of Lock-Tite green 290. This will and has held the spokes for many miles. Contrary to what some may think, the spoke can be easily tightened, or loosened. It just will not vibrate loose.

thanks Jim, I was thinking that doing that way may not hold, but I may try that, after checking my permaseal job.

just pisses me off having to do it though

No worries. Not selling the Stainless ones but the OEM ones I am removing. I am having my wheels re-laced with the Woody's stainless spoke set. Hoping this will end the nipple-slinging process !!

Yep, I know what you mean. lol. I have a Yamaha WR250R and because it was used, I went completely over the bike before I took it out for it's first hard dirt ride. When I left, the wheels were perfect. When I returned almost all the spokes had loosened. lol. I was riding hard in rocks and slop so I do understand.

I have never had a bike that would have loose spokes from slab riding after they had set.

Have a good one Clem,'

Are you still selling individual spokes? I had one like someone else described - it came loosed and was whipping around, hitting the hub and bent the spoke. Yamaha tells me I have to order the whole set - $110+ CAD. It's got 34,000 km on it and I don't ride it hard.

talk to your dealer, they should send some spokes for free your way.
It's an issue that I had, and ended up getting spares from three different sources.
If you're in need PM, and I can help you out.

The dealer really should step up, yamaha knows about this, and has done next to nothing.
Mine are loctited, and tie wrapped where they cross, that way if I do loose a nipple, at least the spoke will not damage the surrounding area

well if it makes you feel any better, I just got back from a 3000km run around California.
The weather has been crap this past week, snow all weekend, and lows of -18C next week.

. My spokes have been treated with ACF50 from new and checked routinely so not rusty , but whilst cleaning the bike today after doing some trails I found several loose spokes and one had come completely undone, the nipple gone and the spoke bent on back wheel. My bike is due for a service later in the week (hence the clean) so I phoned my dealer (who opens in Sunday and is shut on Monday) to see whether he could sort this. A call back , Yamaha do not sell individual spokes to it's £85 for a set. This happen to anybody else in the UK and where can I get individual spokes/nipples etc, or has anybody had stainless spokes and want to get rid of their original ones.......My bike is still under warranty 8,000 miles so will see what Yamaha has to say, just a bit of a bummer as I need to go away on it next weekend.
Anybody want to sell me a spoke or just a nipple and I'll try and straighten the bent spoke, I am in Sussex, so if you are near enough I will collect but no trans Atlantic trips I'm afraid. Or is there somewhere local to me I can take the spoke to see if they have one.?
Hopefully Yamaha will come good, will update.

In the UK, I hear that Alf Hagon has the specs to supply stainless spokes to replace OEM. Don't know whether he will sell one or two but even a full set could be an investment for a future rebuild. It seems from my experience that the orginal wheel build needs the spokes to be tightened after some initial miles. Don't know why - I've never experienced it with any other spoke wheel build. My rear needed about 20 spokes nipped up to reach the recommended 6Nm. Of course, that then put the wheel out of true and involved a lot of tightening and slackening checking with a dial gauge before they were all about right and the wheel true. Being wary of the "lost spoke" syndrome, I then put a dab of paint on each nipple and the corresponding spot on the hub so I could easily tell if anything had moved. 18000 miles on, nothing has moved, the spokes "ring" nicely when tapped and the wheel runs true. Job done!

For info for those in UK Hagon will sell 10 spokes at a time.I am advised by my dealer that Yamaha should deal with this under warranty so here's hoping. I think I will want to carry a few spares maybe, but I am definitely going to cable tie the spokes where they cross to keep them in place incase they come undone.

The wheels on the Tenere are
D.I.D. Japan. Perhaps a D.I.D. wheel dealer would have spokes.
