Will send photos tomorrow. It's night time here in Australia. The seat cost me $319.00 The postage to Australia was $75.00 A donor seat from one of this forums members was $110.00 A total of $504.00 USD delivered to my door. I still believe for what I got that it was a bargain. My tush thanks Rick Mayer every time I ride the Tenere.

As I said will post photos tomorrow.

Haha, sorry its not that type of shop. An upholsterer who works from a shed in his yard. I'll ask him if he is keen for any extra work. Cheers
That's kind of what I figured but can't hurt to ask. ::003::

For those running the Russel seat it looks like it would interfere with off-road riding....is this the case? Seems really wide. I'm sure its comfortable on the slab.

1. Find the base housing office (I'm assuming you are Military or a civilian/contractor)

2. Ask if they have a contractor they use to fix furniture/upholstery

3. Contact that person/shop and tell them what you want with the seat.

Somewhere in there you might wanna get a replacement seat for the meantime while its in the shop. There should be quite a few floating around here for around $100

I actually like the "wings" when riding off road. When standing, I can brace the backs of my knees on the wings.

On the downside, far too often I have my weight back over the seat (even when standing) when I should be leaning forward over the bars. But thats a deficiency in my off-road training, not the fault of the seat. When I remind myself to get my weight forward, the seat is not an issue - doesn't come into play.

I had the stock seat for ~40k miles and switched to the Sargent V2. Definitely a significant improvement, though the stock seat was the best stock seat I've ever had (8th bike). For more serious off-road riding (ie, when I pretty much expect to be getting stuck, etc.) I still put the stock seat back on. I tried a Russell, and while I thought the wings were great for standing, the seat layout seemed to get in the way when trying to push/paddle the bike backwards. To a much lesser extent, the Sargent is somewhat in the way for that as well - effectively makes the reach to the ground a bit longer than stock, which changes the leverage and amount of force you can exert.

YM and BUTT may vary, :D

I just ordered their new "Adventure Tour seat". Should arrive by the end of the week. Planning a trip up to PEI and possibly Cape Breton, then on to Newfyland. We'll see how the inspiration hangs in there. Anyway, it better be good because that is all I will have. Stock seat? No way.

Photos of Rick Mayer seat.
I also got rid of most of the forward slope. Took rear rubber bumpers off base of seat. Left front ones on. Also put about 1/2" of rubber on tank mount top which keeps the front of the seat up. With the removal of the rear bumpers and the rubber support at the front the seat is very close to flat. The photos don't reflect this as they were taken before I did this. Absolutely love riding the bike with this seat and the flattening of the forward slope.

Looks awesome, thanks for posting the pics! ::008::

Wonder if it's possible for Rick to eliminate the front slope when building it.

Doubt it would be a major issue to lower the front slope. Me personally, I like the slope as it keeps me off the tank and holds me back where the seat is really comfortable. you should ask them the question, I'm sure he can do whatever best suits you. That's the whole idea of buying a custom seat. It's done the way that suits you best.

By eliminating the front slope I meant getting rid of the downward slide that mashes the family jewels into the tank. Will ask Rick if I go that route. ::008::

What did that seat cost and what materials is it made from? I assume its not waterproof with all the stitching?

Hello, I have the adventure track seat and it's far better than the stock for me....am in the super heavyweight category though..
350lbs. The Mrs. Is 120lbs and found the rear seat quite firm initially, now it's broken in and more comfortable.

The one I bought is vinyl with weave pattern and cost $319.00 plus a stock donor seat. They do a leather version as well. Don't know if it's 100% water proof. Don't care. I use a simple rain cover on any seat during storms or long distances in the rain.

If anyone's interested, I've got a very lightly used (1,000 miles) Sargent seat just bought from a forum member. Just got it yesterday and unfortunately the greater than OEM width makes it difficult for my 30" inseam legs to reach the ground so am selling.

This is a Gen II seat with extra foam and contouring added by Sargent, and it doesn't have the pesky forward slope. ::008:: I think it would be a very comfortable seat for a big rider due to the extra padding and generous width. The seat is in pristine condition as befits its low mileage, has all necessary hardware to bolt right on, and includes a "secret" underside compartment that's big enough to hold documents, money, fuses, C02 cartridges, and other small items.
