I have done the initial 14FT-LBS in sequence.

Do I go to 22FTlb and verify the angle or do I do the 22ft lbs and then the Angle torque?
It appears to be a 3 step with the angle last but presents it as a 2 stage process.

Can someone that has done this chime in please?
Using lubed NEW Head Bolts per manual

1) Tighten all bolts 1 -6 to 14 ft-lbs for the initial tightening to ensure they are all seated and home, in the sequence as shown on the diagram.
(Don't worry about any angle at this stage)
2) Use the same sequence for the final tightening by angel but be aware that bolts 1, 2 and 4 require a different angle than 3, 5 and 6.

The 7 and 8 bolts can be done last with a normal torque wrench

Ahhhhhh, so I get all to 14#. Then do all to 22#... then do 1,2,4 to 215 to 225 angle then 3,5,6 to 180 to 190 angle. Then 7 and 8 to 7.2#.
Is that what you mean?

Yes, but in the right sequence, so don't do 1, 2, and 4 first, and then 3, 5 and 6, but first 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5 then 6.
And use the specified angle for the individual bolt.

What a pain in the ass. I feel for the guys doing it in the bike. I built an engine stand on a rolling workbench and still struggled all day. The cam chain was brutal until I watched youtube and read book. The CCT was my downfall. I ground the wall thin in a deep socket and spun it in with a drill. This worked too good and I couldn't get it to pop out . So again I removed and watch another video. The guy took the time to explain the 2 clips. Bingo I had it in too far. After that I chained it up and used double zipties. I went through the top and it popped out. I rotated it 2 cycles and all marks lined up still. Rechecked lash and all was perfect. I ma

I had the benefit of bench working the valve shims and with it right in front of me. So thanks Gerard for keeping my project moving.

Tomorrow I will try to get this mess going. When I get it done I have to do a cam lifter job in my hemi charger That will be easier I hope. The bent valve is the reason for the tear down.

Well I finished the head after machine shop 'decked head surface , replace bent intake valve , check valve sealing' Installed head with new bolts and gasket. Did the valve shims. They had not been done in 61k. Had all exhausts slightly beyond spec.
Bike started and ran as quiet as my 2018 with 8kmiles.
The bike is in 'engineering mode' no drive shaft airbox tank is standing up a little so i can watch throttle body. I still have many cables to properly route and accessories to put on and torque.

Thanks for the assist to all who chimed in and Gerard for his quick response to help me understand the torque process.

How can I tell if my cat is working properly?

If a cat is loafing, he's tuned properly.

This is definitely an interesting thread. It also makes me wish that electric motorcycles were about 10 years more advanced so I could buy one and never have to deal with issues like this :) .
