I have the middle size one ... Sport/Touring I think. I also have the Motorrad Garage bracket. I'm 6 foot even. I love it. Awesome set-up. Couldn't think of anything I like better if you beat me and starved me and put a gun to my head. Very nice windshield. With the bracket, I can have it where I'm looking WAY over the top, or move it up to where it's just about eyeball height. You can take my dog before you take my ... well, hold on now .... OK, I won't give up the dog, but I really like the windshield. I have some pics posted here somewhere earlier on. R ::008:: ::008:: ::008::
Thanks Rem - not exactly what I'm looking for since I'm really hoping to get away without adding more bracketry. I have enough crap hanging off the bike already... But it sounds like it will work, bracket or not.

I may have to try the sport-tour anyway - news from V-Stream is the sport version is definitely only available in dark tint...

Who's got updates on their V-Stream? I'm really looking at the sport version, but it only comes in dark tint (waiting for a reply from them about a clear version). I'm really not a fan of tall screens, but I guess if I have to I'd go the sport/tour version, which is 2.75" taller.

I really don't like having the edge of the screen in my line of sight... how is the Sport/Tour version for you people of the 5'11" persuasion?
I have the sport tour and a Madstad bracket. I'm 5' 11" with a 30" inseam. I really like the shield for long rides in the spring, fall and winter.
For me the shield needs another set of mounting holes like the OEM so I could lower it down a little more.

I have not tried it without the bracket but I'm sure the height would be fine and I would be looking over the shield.

Since it has gotten so hot hear, I've been riding with the OEM regular screen so I can get more air on me.

This is just my opinion, but if I were going to ride in the heat, the oem is my choice, with bracket, unless I changed the mounting holes on the V-Stream and used the Madstad bracket.

I hoped that all made sense Trevor. You know screens are such a personal item. ::025::

Im good friends with one of the owners there at National Cycle and have the tinted Vstream windshield installed. It looks great and is just right for me.
I also have the Vstream super tall touring version windshield and am looking to sell that to a local buyer for only $100 ! The retail is $179
Anyone in Florida interested in buying that? Private message me.

Can you tell them they need to make the Sport in clear? ;)

I'll offer a little more feedback. As for seeing over the medium height screen - no problem. I'm 6' tall with 34" inseam. It's always a good idea to state both height and inseam when talking bike ergos. A 6-footer with a 32" inseam probably sits taller in the saddle than me because they're longer above the waist.

When I say it's no problem to see over the medium screen, let me narrow that down to low position and unladen bike. I can still see over it in the high position, but just barely. I recently rode 2-up with my wife for a weekend, luggage and all. With the rear pre-load cranked up to 4/5, the top of the screen was still higher than normal (too much rear sag). On the return leg of the trip, I set the rear pre-load to full (5/5), screen to low position, and the ride height was back to normal, line of sight improved. Now I know.

On my most recent excursion, solo with camping gear and the rider sag adjusted, I noted a new phenomenon. This trip took me down 50 miles of dirt roads (yeah!). What I noticed about that is that my visual focus is much closer in compared to highway riding where I lift my eyes to look as far down the road as possible. With lower speeds and more technical riding, the larger shield is a disadvantage. This is not a comment on the V-Stream, but any larger than stock shield. Next time I'm planning off-highway, I'll switch to the stocker.

I previously noted that the V-Stream sport/touring screen (probably true of any larger screen) is more affected by crosswinds. Feels like someone is grabbing the bars. Since it's been very windy lately and was in the 100+ temps, I switched back to the stock screen. Definitely more stable in the wind. I am also reminded why I bought the V-Stream - more wind protection, less buffeting, less noise. At least swapping is a 5-minute easy job.

Thanks mate - exactly the feedback I'm looking for, and you picked up on one of the main reasons I don't like taller screens. It's why I want the Sport version of the screen. But guess what - it only comes in dark tint so if your focus is closer you're looking through the dark screen and can't see for chit... heaven forbid if you get caught on a rough dirt road in the middle of nowhere after dark... the screen would have to be occy-strapped to the luggage :D

I'll be on a RTW trip so won't have the option of switching screens for different circumstance - one screen must do all!

As with many characteristics, like the power delivery, gearing, suspension, that allow this bike to behave well everywhere from superslab to unpaved roads - the windshield too is a compromise - the minimum acceptable for highway and the maximum for dirt riding. Personally, the sport size isn't different enough from stock to be worthwhile to me. The large touring size is too barn-doorish. Since I have the luxury of switching, I don't have to make up my mind. If I had to take this bike off highway a lot, I'd just stay with the stocker and be happy. There are plenty of other things to spend my money on. An adjustable windshield mount (Madstad) would be pretty high on the list to provide flexibility where interchangability is not an option.

Yep!

You say the V-Stream sport is too short to make much difference - you may be right but I'm convinced that most of the turbulence comes around the sides of he screen, not off the top. Not particularly scientific, but check out the video.

I hacked my screen to try to improve it, by copying a cutout from my Vee's Cee Baileys screen. Barely any difference - which also supports the idea the buffeting is coming from the sides.

The V-Stream sport is about 2 inches taller but more importantly, 3.75" wider. This, along with the shape that seems like it would accelerate airflow out to the side, makes me think it might solve my problem. (but I don't want a dark tint).

Also my Shoei Hornet helmet could be contributing, but I'm not about to spend money on a new helmet that may or may not help.

Next step (while waiting to see if V-Stream will come up with a clear version) is to cut the already-hacked screen down an see how that does...

Can't say I've done too much technical riding yet, but I bought the sport version and I like it. I'm 5'10 on a good day and I look right over the top while seated. I was worried about the dark tint too, but I don't find it an issue at all. Additionally, for super technical riding, I'd imagine you'd be standing for most of it anyway, which might make it a non-issue. Plus if you have a black Tenere, the dark tint looks pretty cool. :)

Howdy,
I agree, most of the disturbance is coming around the sides of the shield and not over the top. Running the Sport/Tour height and I'm very happy but the biggest improvement came from installing the OEM Wind Deflectors whether it was the stock, Cal Sci or the V-Stream windshield installed. Short money and a big improvement to cockpit comfort.
Later,
Norm
