It's a big one. No time to write it up now. Got to work. I have a picture that will explain it all. I'll be back in a little while...

Ditto. I'm interested to see where this is headed. Drivetrain? Perhaps post some info on your bike and get as much from the dealer to see if this is an isolated issue, or a string of affected bikes Yamerhammer released...

What a mess. I've been to 2 different dealers trying to solve this. It was obviously WAY over the first dealers head.

The second one required a lengthy discussion with 3 different people, but it looks like we have a claim and the problem will be solved!

You ready? You just want the pic of the mess? Or should I post description? Hmmm...

Post a pic or pics, but walk us thru the issue too. What symptoms you noticed, how it manifested itself, (slowly or all at once, etc.).

It was a rapid onset. One second, everything was great. The next second, the sound of metal hitting concrete...

Dzus fastener (female side) for right panel?
That's it. I took the right panel off and heard something hit my garage floor. The other half was still in place (it's glued on).

Massive problem ::)

Don't tell BMW!!! They'll start a campaign about right sided fastener final drive failures! Either that or they will, again, profess the superiority of the use of Torx screws (in 14 different sizes) for one fairing.

You can all rest assured. The right side cover has been tested to over 100mph with only 3 fasteners in it...

So.... you're saying there's a fastener related speed restriction above 100mph???? ???

Normally that's a description of a rider induced error. ;)

Besides, it's nothing duct tape won't fix if you were out for a ride. :-*
