Getting ready to ride to Colorado, this Saturday, and the cruise on my ES stopped working. Check the fuses...they are good. Yamaha dealer told me to bring it in and they would look at it...and then...order the parts. Well, that means, in all likely hood, that the parts would be here next week sometime. Looks like it will be "the wrist" for this trip...which will end up being around 9,000+ miles when all is said and done. I will take it to the Yamaha shop, in Boulder, and see what they can do for me while I am there for a week.
Called the dealer where I purchased this bike around nine this morning...and at 3 pm...no return call. I guess this is NOT a serious issue.
I am sure it is some minor issue...but will miss the cruise that worked very well for 850 miles!

check to make sure the brake switches are adjusted correctly (if possible). I assume if you hit the brake the cruise disengages.

Did you just wash the bike before the trip? When my cruise gets soaked it sometimes will not work for awhile and then works when it dries out. (not on a Super Tenere)
Hope yours auto corrects...

Will ride back together and do some storm chasing while we're at it. Forget the passes. Corn fields is where all the fun is. How often do you get to catch one or more of these at night?

Mine packed up too. Like several others here, turned out it was the rear brake pedal - a simple adjustment of the mechanical brake light switch, hidden behind the heel guard & all was well again. Embarrassed to find I had probably been flashing the brake lights at other drivers for a while inadvertantly - it certainly wasn't noticeable at a standstill, with the bike on it's kick-stand.............. I did adjust the rear brake petal down a bit...I guess that probably "messed" it up. Thanks a "million" for your insight(s). Also, I have been to Montrose a lot. Great place!!!

Thanks for your help.

Rear brake. I adjusted mine, the light worked fine but cruise was disabled. Small twist on the switch fixed it.

You just need to adjust the brake switch by the same amount.

I made the same mistake and about 10 minutes later it was fixed. I would bet your brake light is on anytime the key is on.

have had nothing but bad luck with this shop... ::010::

Vickery or coyote might be a better option!
