I am headed back to the track for 2013, needed a bike, decided to use my existing streetbike.

Before the build, she was a beauty and fast!! Ecu tuned already so no need for HP chasing.

Suspension upgrades 30 mil Ohlins forks specially tuned by the Thermosman and a JRi rear shock also tuned by Tman.

Brake upgrades included Speigler lines up front with Vesrah RJL brake pads. Vortex engine guards, Vortex rearsets, CRG shorty levers, real nice bodywork paint job and this is what you have afterward (levers not in this pic)

This is not a toy this thing will/can kill you. 160 hp at the rear wheel. I am going to get a few trackdays under my belt and hopefully grid up with WERA before years end. I have not raced in 7 years but I've kept sharp doing trackdays for 5 of those 7 years. A 1000 is not my first choice but I love a challenge. I have tracked 600's, 750's and 1000's in the past just never raced a 1000. Not much difference.

It's not totally finished I still need to add the race Michelins and a ecu controlled quickshifter. I have 8 weeks to get that done.

Way too nice.

go ahead and knock it off the lift. Then, pick it up and drop it on the other side.

I only roll with nice and I'm not a crasher (one in 5 years, several run offs but not down) so now we are done with that tid bit of negative nancy advise.

I have bought used race bikes in the past and it always ended up being a POS that needed a ton of work. I try not to do that anymore. I know what this one will do and where it's been.

I've read of folks making molds of their body work so they can readily cast up new. Any thoughts on that, being a regular on the track...

I kind of suspect this was what was used on this brand bodywork. This is an up and coming company, I researched then and reviews came back positive however none of said reviews were on the newer GSXR1000. My bodyshop guys had hell with this junk. Very poor fitting upper and numerous fiberglass errors. Thanks to some very good work my guys made this junk look outstanding. I told them over and over it was looking way to good for the track. I'm pleased with what they did but I won't support the bodywork brand again.

I'm sure they replicated the stock stuff using molds, exactly how it's done I don't know. This product came from S. California. The folks laying the glass were clueless in the procedure.

The paint looks amazing in person and better than my new GSXR750 side by side.

Some outside pics. The weather finally got warm enough to take an illegal spin up the road >:D

It's one mean ride but I am loving the transformation. ::012::

1st can't be throttled heavy, 2nd the front end is still skyward and you must ride with the throttle and it doesn't end in 3rd where the front end is still skyward. Way more stable now with the suspension upgrades. This model GSXR stock IMO is border line dangerously unstable with the front end slapping under acceleration or coming down from a wheelie. Not so anymore, rake and trail numbers have been changed for the better. I will have my Michelin Cup DOT race tires tomorrow so I'll most likely mount them up this weekend so no more test rides. I have my rearsets adjusted correctly and so on so I really don't need another ride. I can't wait to get it on the track in 7 weeks.

Well after a crash on the second day of my first weekend on the new bike it now looks a little bit different. Some better parts have been added most of which hopefully will help reduce the damage on the next crash.

The crash was not my fault an over zealous trackday rider (on a 600 streetbike) clipped my right clip on trying to shoot a gap between me an 2' of pavement. Idiot had no business being where he was which was off line and pretending to be a bowling ball. My bike was toast afterward, I was lucky and sustained a fractured scaphoid bone in my left wrist which is now all healed up. I rebuilt the bike and its better than ever. I won't ride with that trackday organization again as I feel it was out of control. The fool who plowed through me had some other rider issues that morning unbeknowing to me. Sh!t happens as the old saying goes.

Anyway I'm back 100% bikes back up and looking good and we head to Barber Motorsports park June 8th.

Barber weekend went great! Excellent show put on by STT as usual. The bike did outstanding and I am coming back with my confidence level. My laptimes were not my best but considering the get off I had back in march they were pretty good. High 30's are respectful for a trackday there in fact its like your not getting passed but maybe once a session by someone. I rode with several 600 riders and the big 1000 just pisses them off to no end lol I know that feeling. Made some good riding buddies out there and we all played nice no idiot stuff like last time out. This was a good solid advance class group this weekend.

My pit Friday afternoon

Photographer for the weekend has not uploaded all his pics so maybe I can buy a few once he does.

Nice bike. Clean set-up. Hope the wrist is working full strength. That break takes some time to come back fully. I sure miss racing, not that I could anymore but, it's just something that once it's in your blood, it never leaves.

Wrist is good now. It has been broke so many times I guess I have grown used to pain in it. And yes I miss racing but trackdays will do for now.

Whoohoo we head to Barber Motorsports park next weekend August 24-25th with NESBA for a weekend of triple digit fun on the big bike!

She did pretty good at Barber last outting back in June. I only did one day that weekend and dropped my lap times into the high 30's. looking to reduce those lap times on down this go around. I am getting my confidence back after the disaster at Talladega back in march. It just takes time and laps.

She was a ripping though back in march at Talladega before the idiot side swiped me.

Barber this past weekend went well. Lowered my laptimes to within a second or two of my old 600 times.

We got to do a rare track walk Saturday afternoon. I picked up several things from this especially some surface areas that visually bothered me in the past.

Pitted on the third tier this go around and I will be up there from now on. Easy in easy out.

Headed to NOLA in Avondale, LA sept 7-8 for two days with STT. 16 turns, 2.75 mile and boast a 3400' straight which my 1000 should gobble up. http://www.nolamotor.com/
