Re: Build this Yamaha!

Looks like fun, but he totally lost it at about 1:17. Surprised they kept that in the video. Didn't show the let-go but there's no way he could have saved it.

For you power-sliders out there, what's a good way to practice and ease into it with minimal damage to me and the bike? I've never had the balls to try a full power slide (intentionally) at speed.

Use TC2 setting to get comfortable, you can spin the rear but you know the electronics are there as a safety net

Get a 250 or the like dirt bike, pin it and grin. With a small bike made to take crashes you will have less damage and weight to possibly land on you, as well as avoiding potentially expensive repairs.

Remember to keep her pinned do not chop your throttle, when you want to quit just roll off the throttle.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'm not planning to learn power slides on the Tenere! I have a KTM I can mess around with when I find time to get out to the dirt.

I find power sliding on the tenere to be easier than on a dirtbike. I feel like the extra weight of the tenere makes her stable and predictable and the less aggressive street legal knobbie tires don't grip as much as motocross tores whoch helps initoate the slide.
