Moving On

After having my thread moved to the whole of the world regarding the possibility of buying an AT DCT in the UK because of arthritis I have decided to go ahead and buy the Honda.

I shall miss my S10 a lot, it had to be one of the best bikes I have ever owned but the comfort of the DCT means I have more concentration for the ride.

Hi Nick. Sorry to see you leaving but understandable as the auto Honda will suit you well. Thanks for the past correspondence and it's a shame we never made a rideout. However I am only up the road and ride with Gregory regularly and it's not an issue if you want to ride out with us in the future on the AT. We won't mind! Cheers Mark

There are certainly a few bargains around with the DCT version in the UK at present - I really must try a demo. I'm Ok with the chain, like the idea of DCT but the thought of tubed tyres has been clouding my vision.

Good luck with the AT, I'm sure you'll manage just fine with the DCT. But still work at movement in the joints, whatever it takes, even heated gloves ::008::

Good luck with the new bike, a trail riding mate had one for the day for him to try out and he give it a good run off road and was seriously impressed with it's off road ability, he though having no clutch to control would be an issue but it was fine, on the road it'll be awesome. Enjoy!

With arthritis being crippling enough to compromise clutch operation, I don't see you off-roading the AT much, if at all. Just curious, why have you not considered the Crosstour DCT which seems more appropriate for your situation?

Thanks for the encouraging posts everyone.
I'm looking forward to getting the AT but really not looking forward to handing in the S10.

I did look at the Crosstourer and had a go on one but the weight of the bike is hideously high and that's the reason I got rid of the Varadero. Based on that experience I found it's c of g and my c of g when wheeling it around resulted in three expensive drops.

I have only drops the S10 once and that was stuck in wet clay, I originally chose the bike for its low c of g and comfort. The AT has the similar values however I shall miss some of those wonderful electronic gizmos I had on the ZE.

I don't really do a lot of off road but for those who k ow me they know I do find some of the oldest droves and lanes to get about on and I think the AT will do the job fine.

I'm a bit concerned about tubed tyres but what the hell, it's biking!,

I regularly ride with a mate that moved from an Exploder to a AT DCT... He loves it..

If the Honda came with cruise control I probably would have got one instead of the second S10..

As Stridey says we regularly ride out together and being in Somerset, your only just up the road.. If you fancy a ride let me know.. Took Stridey round some proper roads last week... n

I've been out for a couple of rides now on the AT and covered just over 200 miles of lanes all around south Somerset and Dorset.

The DCT gearbox is quite incredible, it never needs me to change but I have enjoyed putting it to manual and using the paddles for a change. The riding position is good and as I get used to the large front wheel the cornering gets better and better.

What do I miss?
That lovely S10 seat.
