Mounting the Zumo 660

I'm after some advice.....

I have a Zumo 660 that I had set-up brilliantly on my 1150GS. Having bought the Super Ten I'm scratching my head looking for a mounting point as the handlebars are too thick.
I started to look at the Touratech Windscreen adjuster with the GPS mounting bar, as I was also looking to get some more adjustment on screen. But then stopped as I was concerned that my RAM mount would stick out to far. Then I started to look at other options and got really confused.
So what solution is going to sort me out?
Any got any pics of the Touratech one in use with a Zumo?

Thanks

I used the stock mount that came with my Zumo and bolted the ram mount to the LHS handlebar, angled the ram in to wards the centre. Works a treat , not to far away to use the buttons.

Yeh I think I was looking for something centrally mounted, but I'll have a play tomorrow.

I also found that the forward mount on the Touratech windshield mount was too far away for my comfort. So they got more of my money on the Touratech handlebar mount. I also have the Prius Hoods sun screen (sold on EBAY) which helps if the sun isn't behind you :). The picture makes it look like this blocks the instrument cluster but it does not for me.

I to was concerned about mounting my Zumo, but sitting on the ST at the Touratech booth at the Long Beach show that had the Touratech windscreen adjuster and mount, it did not feel it was to far away or to close.

Phil (Firefighter911) has this setup on his ST as well. Here is a pic from his thread http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2509.0 that shows its relative position (side view).

Not a inexpensive option, but it appears to work very well and you don't have to worry about your GPS falling off in rough terrain or someone walking away with it. I just ordered this setup this morning.

Lots of options that's for sure. The SW-Motech mount is much cheaper ($70), but I decided to go all out.

Thanks for posting that up Steve. I'm flattered.

With my use to date, both off and on road, I have to say that I would not change a thing. It's easy to use, in a great position for viewing without obstruction or having to move my eyes from the road, and is very solid in it's mounting. I've had no issues whatsoever.

Phil, Your welcome!

Plus getting a 10% off coupon with free shipping from the guys at the Touratech booth at the Long Beach show just sealed the deal for me!

Also got the same deal from the Twisted Throttle folks at the show as well....probably a tinted MRA Touring Screen (sans spoiler)screen in the works for me as well (I like a tinted screen).

I have the 665 but decided to get the touratech mount which works with both.
http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/PN-065-0520/TOURATECH-Zumo-660-665-handlebar-mount-Locking-Silver

Then mounted it to a crossbar from Twisted Throttle

Thanks for all the replies.
I've decided to go with the SW-Motech crossbar to replicate what I had on the GS, then it separates the issue of the adjustable screen and I can look at the best solution for that.

This was my solution by SW Motech and I'm very pleased with it.

Bought off German eBay for 57 Euros including UK delivery.

Slight warning....there are 2 bolts at the front and 2 at the side. The side bolts have a common fastening with the winglets if you have them fitted. Hence you need to modify the bracket or winglets slightly.

Post those photos Jan.

I used RAM mounts...
...RAM-B-367U the ball that mounts using one of the handlebar clamp bolts.
...RAM-B-201U the RAM arm that came with the zumo.

Simple and inexpensive.

Have plans to relocate the zumo more forward nearer line of sight.

I put mine up by the windshield using the SW mount. Works great for me I don't have to take my eyes too far off the road.

And here are the pictures of the 'Dutch way of mounting the Zumo660 (sorry that took a while, but was skiing in Italy)
The mounting is done by 'Yamaha Netherlands' (and if you didn't notice, yes i'am Dutch) and is part of the 'Explorer' version wich comes with several extras.
When anyone wants something to know about the 'Explorer' just let me know.

Greetz, Jan.

Looks good Jan. Is there a Yamaha part number for the mount? Plus I am jealous that Netherlands got the White paint scheme and now gets the Explorer. Just joking. Glad to see the worthy Super Tenere being upgraded to the Explorer.
