Guys, I did a crappy job of posting this afternoon - I apologize. I did that in a rush as the wife had somewhere she thought I needed to be. I've now added the part number and price. The landing page that I've linked you to has some relative history, more information on the benefits, and the rationale behind using TPMS on our bikes.

Thanks, Gordon/RTS

I've had 3 of the Orange Electronics M202 motorcycle tire pressure monitor systems.
Are replacement sensors available for the new system and if so at what price ?
Will the M203 sensors work with my M202 system ?

edited to delete my unsolicited opinion

A few thoughts on TPMS.

My understanding from friends that have the external pressure sensors (at least the one like Garmin) are locked in place with a small allen screw. The problem is that to add air to the tire you have to remove the external pressure sensor and for me every bike I have owned required topping off the air pressure every few weeks and some more often. It us suggests to replace the OEM rubber valve stem with a steel stem by most manufactures of TPMS.

The internal tire pressure sensor, that I had on my 2008 Kawasaki GTR1400 (Connie) worked well with a few issues. After a few years the tire pressure sensor would take a few minutes to start to work so you did not know the tire pressure till a few miles into your trip. (Worse when cold). Many on the Connie news groups found that the internal pressure sending unit was best replaced during a tire replacement point somewhere near the 4 year point.

If the internal tire pressure sending unit battery and unit is not defective and lasts at least 2 - 4 years that is the way I would go and after having an OEM system on my Connie I miss the safety such an accessory provides. (It saved my Ass any my Wife on the Connie as it flagged a rear tire screw induced leak while on I-280 at freeway speeds and allowed my to take action before we ate the pavement) ....

Hi Bob,

There hasn't been a M202 made since 2012 so those are now 4 years old or close with a 3 year battery. The new M203 adds additional features to include Bike System Voltage and The Wheel Sensors Voltage. The M203 Sensors are not compatible with the M202 Display.

Yes, we have replacement Sensors and Monitors available separately for someone that needs a replacement component due to theft or crash damage. New sensors are simply paired to your display with a few simple commands. If you buy one of these M203's, I can assure you they are fresh and just off the assembly line. I don't have the balls or money to buy 1~2 years worth of inventory and for the very reason you mentioned - Bad Idea. My units come from the factory using the same just-in-time practice, Orange doesn't want those old battery problems either.
Register on my site and you'll get 12 months additional warranty on top of the standard 12 months. For 24 months, I'll ship you a brand new replacement the next day if you have an issue that is our fault and we can't troubleshoot over the phone.

Best Regards, Gordon/RTS

Hi Harry,

I just can't accept the screw-on cap idea.
First, the only way they can work is to compromise and bypass the Schrader valve's seal - without bypassing the Schrader, they don't get pressure.
They cannot transmit tire air temperature, being compact enough so as to not cause stem problems also means small batteries and smaller transmitters.
They are a pain to add air with. Tires typically lose 1~2 PSI every month.
The fact that not one automobile manufacturer uses them to comply with the US Federal mandate every car/truck have them since 2007 speaks volumes. Automobile manufacturers have to warranty these units, so it's no surprise to me they are on the inside.

Sure, if an in-tire system wasn't available I would want something. But the Orange System hit home with me 4 years ago and I've enjoyed having the unit since April 2012. I am proud to be their US Agent and Authorized Dealer. I put my reputation on them.

Best Regards, Gordon/RTS

Folks - This post is in the vendor thread.

Please DO share your thoughts about TPMS, but do it in an existing TPMS thread.
Thanks

Not sure if this will be an issue, on my 2012 I had filed down the rib in the rear wheel when I last used the M202 version so the nut would sit flatter.

This time, I simply tightened the nut and let the rib stay as a possible aid in keeping it in place... but, I'm not sure if it will act that way or if the wheel vibrations may actually cause it to move. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm tempted to just file it anyway as I like that approach better...

Guys, I need a couple Tenere owners to install my TPM Systems. I need step by step install photos, comments, and an evaluation of the product, then it's performance.

I'll provide a discounted price on the TPMS or give you "store credit" for tools - which ever you prefer. I think you'll love the system, but I need to get a Tenere or two up on my site. If these don't meet expectations, me and everyone here need to know. I've used the older M202 system for 4 years and until my front tire's sensor battery died. I now have the M203 and like it even more with the added features and longer battery life. The fact that I'm the Authorized US dealer for these and will sell and replace your sender/sensors due to tire changer, crash, or other damage and be your warranty service dealer - Priceless!

Here is the one we did on a friend's Gold Wing -

And my ST1300 here -

Thanks, Gordon

Gordon,
I'd be interested in being a test mule for you. I've been very pleased with other products you offer and waiting for the S10 risers to be completed.

Based on what I see on the web site the screen stays white/blue when on - Correct? How bright?
More white than blue to my eye, no problem with visibility even in bright sun. The back light is maybe a little brighter than I would prefer for night riding, but I have my display down on the handle bar out of my direct line of site so it's not a problem.

Like Jeff says, mine doesn't bother me at all - it's very easy to read in bright sunlight and because the numerals are Blue and the background White. The amount of light shown back to the rider is minimal. The contrast is why this display works so well.

The Warning screen turns Red so it grabs your attention, but even that is not blinding. I think these are cleverly lit so as not to blind and yet maximize visibility and warning effectiveness.

Thanks for your interest TPMS. Best Regards, Gordon/RTS

Here is a photo I received from a M109 customer - at night, in the garage where you can compare the TPMS to the Neutral
