After reading, on this site and others, comments about the quality of bike repairs/service maybe it is time to do a kind of "Angies List" of shops and how well/poorly they work on Teneres or similar motorcycles. I do not think anyone has a problem pay a fair price for a person working on their bike(s). After reading comments on valve adjustments on this site I am almost terrified to take my bike to have it done. From the tenor of comments it appears that in many cases the bike is worse off when it comes out of a shop than when it went in.
In order for this to work one would have to be "perfectly" honest in their review(s) with specific examples. I do not think it is fair to discredit someone over a personality issue. Interested in your comments.

Good idea, but perhaps better doing it by region? That way you would not have to troll through pages of posts just to find one local to you. Four corners of the US, Europe, the UK (I know it's Europe, but it is a rather stand alone country). Or I'll just keep quite and mind my business. O:)

Good idea and agree with Dogdaze...need to break it down by region. Might even find that there is a trend among certain groups of dealerships, same parent company type stuff.

Feel free to post up in the Regional areas, but we are too small a group to make much difference.

I can tell you that there are already a LOT of reviews on www.yelp.com and I personally use that app extensively. The more people who add reviews makes it just that much more valuable. I was in Redmond Washington the other night a restaurant talking to the owner who said that yelp reviews are so important that he pays close attention to those about his place.

Clearly I missed the notice... I'd have met up for dinner... and taken you somewhere very nice. :) At least you had great weather... unless you were here the one night you had a monsoon this week.

I like Yelp, but its very hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. Business owners have to pay attention because its popular... even if it's riddled with crazies and bs. I like the idea of leaving notes in our regional areas. That could grow to be a great resource for both locals and travelers.

I may be wrong but the OP may have wanted member's experiences, rather than random reviews posted on a national review net and capturing all sorts of mis-infornmation. This way there would be more of a 'personal' experience and questions could be levied to the reviewer for an honest opinion (on performance rather than free coffee and biscuits / cookies, served)

Even among us, there'd be a big difference in our separate experiences and reviews. Check into some of the Yelp reviews about your local shops and you'll find that there are a lot of just the personal experiences you mention. The thing I see over and over is to simply give less weight to the extreme likes and hates. Here's an example of what seems to be pretty balanced about one of our local dealerships which has 60 individual reviews:

Not my favorite service shop by fair and very convenient. Typically busy and not the cheapest but accurate representation of time for service. They have been honest and straightforward in terms of effort and timing. During non-busy times, they have dropped everything and performed my inspection on the spot while I waited. Parts department is pretty good...they are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
