Motor quits, then gets stuck at 3-4,000 RPM once restarted

My friend's new (used) Super-T is already giving him fits. After a day of riding, it stalled while moving and refused to restart. Then, as the story goes, the motor wouldn't drop below 3-4,000 RPM's for his remaining ride home.

Any ideas what to check first?

While it'd help to know what Generation bike he has, there's at least one full stickied thread on this here:

No help or replies?

Dude - You didn't answer with which bike it is, which makes a big difference.

And even then, you were pointed to the thread where the answer probably lies.

I would check the little rubber plug on the Right Side Throttle Body first. Any air leak there is going to run the idle fast.

Sorry man, 2012. (I don't think they're so different.)

I looked through the thread for awhile and there was nothing that matched.

I'm used to the old format, before all the sub categories, when multiple responses were rapid. No worries, I got plenty of replies in another forum.

Thanks anyway.

No problems - glad you got your answer.

We generally aren't like the old joke about the IRS motto. "We're not happy till you're not happy."

So what is going on after the fact, anything change taken it in the shop yet?
I am a big advocate on this issue with my 2012 so I am all ears.
I also have a post to report this issue to the highway safety commission.
So far I have less than a hand full of participants while others dismiss it now that they own Gen2 models that have no problems.
