MOTOR NOISE - HELP

When I start the motor a new metallic noise appeared. It has happened the last 3 times. It is more intensive in the range of 1800 to 2200 RPM. The noise disappears when the motor warms at 175 F (80 Celsius).

As General Information, mi bike is a XTZ 1200 Supertenere year 2013, 19,000 miles. I have not regulated the valves. Only maintenance done by me is oil changes, oil filter, air filter, etc at correct intervals, with LiquyMoly 20-50 Sinthetic oil

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT COULD BE. It is serious? Can be fixed? If I do nothing could damage the motor?

My apologies for my English. I am a spanish speaker from Chile, South America.
Regards, Martin Schneuer

Not much information to go on. Is the noise when your moving, standing still, etc.... What is the outside ambient temperatures where you are?
Did it start happening after your last oil change or service?

Do you hear it up high in the valve cover area or low in the clutch area?

Mine has done the same thing since it was new (2012 just bought it 3 months ago). I have 3300 miles. It goes away at about 165-175 deg. To me it sounds like forged pistons "knock or slap" when cold so I never worried about it. I was wondering if other people hear it.

Thank you for the replies from Koinz and Firstgendsm.
The noise happens the same when moving and standing still.
Ambient temperature in the range of 60 to 70 F.
Started happening 1500 miles after the last oil change.
It happens the same with the clutch pulled or not.
Tommorrow I will hear if the noise comes from high valve cover area or low from the clutch and report to you.

I am using Yamaha lube 10W40 mineral. Happens in the am when it's about 50deg and after work it's about 60-70. Mine is definitely not coming from the clutch and happens with or without a load on engine.

It is still in warranty? Have you taken it to the dealership service department?

Red Cat, If I do not change the chain tensioner, could cause a damage the motor?
It is complicated and I do not trust the Yamaha dealer here in Chile, since they do not have properly trained personnel.

That I'm not sure of but I don't think so. Sounds like it just takes the oil a long time to reach that spot. Keep checking with the guys here and Adventure Rider who are a lot brighter than myself on this subject. May not even be the CCT. Good luck. But the CCT is really not that hard to reach and replace though. There are posts on here how to do it.

Thank you Red Cat. I will monitor the noise. Reading the posts seems not complicated. The replacement is not expensive. I will buy and replace it if the noise increase.
