Anyone using modulated rear break lights that *replaces* the stock ones. Looking for a bulb that plugs instead of the stock break light, and blinks for X seconds before turning solid when the front/ rear breaks are applied.

Had such a bulb in my previous bike, but couldn’t find one yet for the S10.

I thought our tail light was an LED?

There are products out there that will make our very bright brake light flash. I've had no reason to pull one apart, but I too thought it was LED.
Hmm, Tomatocity here put a flashing module on his, very cool.

I just started using this and it works like a charm. I've definitely noticed that cars stay much further back compared to before. I'm not a technical guy by any means and I installed this thing in less than 30 minutes, pretty much plug and play. The kit comes with a quick reference guide how to program the brightness, flash rate, sequencing, emergency flashers etc. All you need to do is turn the ignition on and hit your brakes a certain amount of times within 5 seconds, wait for the double flash, and you're set. It's inexpensive for what you get and seems to be good quality. http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/P3_Features.shtml?

I am also using a strobe module (many out there to choose from) and I also added this:

See the second post on that page. I copied that setup. It's an ambulance clearance strobe (it has its own setting for strobe/solid pattern), but it can be set to just burn solid without flashing. Then, coupled with a separate strobe module, it will flash in synch with the brake lights. Very easy install and that light is about 5 times brighter than the stock brake light. It WILL get you noticed.

I'm a cheap basterd.... so I got me one of these - http://www.customdynamics.com/knight_rider_led_light_bar.htm - made a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the alt rider rack and wired it in. I was worried about longevity but its been there for 1.5 years now and no problems. The "knight rider version" light streaming back and forth keeps those behind me awake before I ever hit the brakes, and it's very bright! ::013::

Just found this on eBay... it's plug and play and was exactly what I was looking for after reading the OP:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-XT1200-Super-Tenere-Smart-Brake-Light-Modulator-Vizi-tec-SupaBrake-/261119251235

Says it plugs right into the OEM harness at the rear of the bike, under the rear seat... no cutting!

I'll post up when I get it so as to not hijack the thread.
I installed the Visi Tec Supabrake module last year and it is truly plug-n-play. Very nice product and Bernard was great to deal with. He put together a group buy for the early adopters of his product. Well worth the $ and super easy to install.

Those fasteners are called Torx. A readily available tool. As a two-birds-with-one-stone thing, get the Safety Torx set. They're the ones with a hole in the center.

I took down the hard Givi bags, their rack, both seats, carrier under the passenger seat, standard carrier and still no obvious place to cleanly tap into the break lines for the modulator.

Any suggestions?

I put mine right where the poly bag is in your pic. Mounted the controller on the ramped plastic along side. If you need a pic of the install give me a shout n I'll go get you one.

A picture would be helpful. Did you have to cut any lines, or was it plug and play into an existing connector.
