Has anyone tried carving out the rear tire centre rib with a Dremel tool or otherwise to enhance off road performance? I believe past generations of the tire did not have the continuous centre rib, which is presumably there to add longevity or perhaps increase on road high speed stability.

That's part of why i like the tire. Rock solid on a wet slab at 80 but digs in on the mud. The

I cut the front and back tires when they were worn down to get additional mileage. I managed to get an extra 3k KM out of them ::012:: Most I ever got out of a rear so far. 11k KM.
I never touched the tires when new.

I did like Greg when I had the K60s. Used a regular Dremel rotary tool and didn't cut too deep, since I was just trying to give it some rain grooves. It did help the tire slip less in the rain.

Mitas used to not have the center rib and added it to stop people from tearing the tread blocks, so cutting deep may not give the result you want.

I just ordered some new ones and all the reviews and videos showed no center rib. That was one of the reasons I bought them

it's not a center rib. The center rib is recessed, and will become a rib mid life...
if that makes sense

Yes it does, Thanks Mr. Pope ::008::

Can't wait to get them on. Been riding on the Senator Highway from Prescott to Bumblebee and the Arizona rocks are beating up my BW's.
