Just mounted/balanced a pair of e-07's that I had in the basement. I originally bought them because I had dreams of taking on the trans wisconsin trail over fathers day weekend and doing more natural surface rides. Well... things have changed and while I am still planning on riding the trans wisconsin, I will definitely ride much more road than anything. Example, in the last 10,000 miles, approx 20 miles have been off road (or 2/10ths of a %)

What prompted me to get the tires put on today was that my last set, Battlewings (which I was extremely happy with, over 10K miles) seemed to be tripping the ABS (i use a lot more rear brake than I should) quite a bit more than I remembered. They were also nearly down to the wear bars and since I had new tires in the basement, I figured... why not, better to be safe than sorry.

Initially the E-07's felt mushy. I haven't checked pressures yet but I believe that they were set to 33/36 as recommended (yes, I will check). I didn't like/wasn't used to how they turn in and they seem (in combination with just how new they are as well as the significantly salted roads) to slide around a fair bit more. I am hoping things change OR i get used to how they handle. Buy dayum.... I really really liked those battlewings. These are just my initial impressions on the way back from the dealership. I realize things should improve.

I also realize a sport tire they aren't. That said, are they going to become (much) better mannered as they scrub/wear in? I read, IIRC that the best results for ride quality are in the 30/33 range f/r. I am hoping for something like how the shinkos behaved badly at recommended pressure, but raise or lower them and there were improvements to be had (to the point that I didn't mind them at all).

I also recall reading that these tires have a reasonably long life.... crap to me if I don't like them and have to put up with them for 10K miles.

Do you remember where you picked them up at? I need to start checking around for a new set and thinking the Mitas might be my next choice. Have heidenaus now and about couple thousand miles away from changing.

Thanks for any direction on vendor

Mine got better manners after about 500 miles - especially on grooved concrete. Don't mind them at all on pavement now and really appreciate them on loose stuff.

New tires seem to always feel funny at first, because you are used to the worn out ones. Give them time. Then you won't remember the difference.

You're not comparing apples to apples.
you will loose outright grip on pavement
you will loose overall grip on pavement.

That said you will gain speed, grip and confidence off road.

compromise.
If you're hard on the rear tire, it will expire in 8 thousand km.
