SO just before this weekend I mounted a Cont TKC 80. I have just over 6000 miles on the stock and it was time, I went with the Cont to see if I like it or not. Next one who knows.....

So about 2 hours into my ride I was feeling a growling sound in the bars, reminded me of a bearing going out on my KTM 450. I stopped and propped up the bike on the center stand, checked my front wheel out, felt fine. It felt like it got worse, I checked it a few more times but everytime I would spin my front wheel it was good no noise or bind. I even checked my rear wheel. All felt good, so I have to assume it is the knobbie feeling on the big pig. Anyone else have the same "complaint" or feeling? Should I have gone with a different tire like the k60's?

I rode for 400 miles no failure or increase noise just more frequent, like at lower speeds.

Does it do it on dirt too or just on pavement?

Mine did that on pavement at certain speeds. It's just a gentle reminder to go tear up a dirt road somewhere. ;-) After a couple hundred miles it seems like it tones down a bit.

A front knobby will make slightly loose steering stem seem terrible. Check / Service the steering stem. You can't go wrong even if it is not the problem.

Next... re-torque the handle bars, forks (follow the correct procedure), front axle, brakes,... The front wheel is installed by the dealership.

no I had the tire mounted and balanced, I installed it. I did the forks seals at the same time, I seem to notice it more at slower speeds. Asphalt, do not remember it on dirt.

Almost every tire I mount gives me low speed tickles on tarmac. Especially when new.

Man I love that feeling!
This bike has a horrible appetite if you feed it dirt tires. But nothing makes it happier. That wasp looking face turns into a grin. I swear it does.

You don't say for sure if its a front TKC you mounted. If its a rear and you are running a smoothie in front, you are asking for trouble. Front Knobbie, Rear Smoothie OK. Or knobbies both ends OK.
