Just changed my tyres again (to Avon Storm XMs), here's the mileage I got on the Super Tenere on the two types of PR4...
PR4 Front - 10,842 (i.e. two rears, was some mileage left on it but it was starting to feel a little loose so changed it anyway).
PR4 Trail Rear - 4,822 (around 500 miles left before I would hit wear bars)
PR4 (normal) Rear - 6,020 (around 500 miles left before I would hit wear bars)
So you get about 25% more wear with the non-trail version with no discernible difference in grip/handling.
And before you mention, different roads, different riding, the bike is only used on my long commutes from Wimborne to Bristol and back 3 days a week, same porky rider, same A and B roads, same speeds, first tyre used in spring/summer, second tyre used in summer/autumn.
