Mexico back alley brake work

I'm not sure why but I didn't replace brake pads before leaving for Mexico. Mexico is very hard on brakes. As well, my pads are wearing faster on the caliper side.

So I was thinking......

To switch the pads from the left caliper to the right and vice versa. Also I could lube the pins well while in there. I really should have done that when I replaced the pads last time. And I should have brought the used pairs.

So what do you think?

If it’s what you need to do, do it. Shuffle those pads around to the most suitable place in order to extend pad life, all will be fine. As for the pins, if possible, get a fine bit of sandpaper and clean them up. Then go enjoy the ride.

If the difference in wear of the pads is much... rather than blaming the pins, I would blame the thickness of the disc…

Thanks. I actually found new pads here in San Chrisobal De Las Casas! Gonna clean them up good, lube them and install new pads today.

The disc thing is interesting they don't look significantly worn. Bike only has about 40k miles on it. Anyone know the specs of the top of their head? Not sure how I'd find a micrometer to measure it.

Don't worry about the disk now….put the new pads on and keep riding….”BUT LOOSE THE BLEED WHEN YOU PUSH THE PISTON IN”
