Metal Valve Stems

I need to fit some metal valve stems so I can use the Garmin TPMS and while I'm at it I thought I'd switch to right-angle stems as they make putting air in so much easier. It looks like there's enough space on the rear wheel but I don't think there's enough clearance on the front for the nut that holds the stem in place. The lack of space on the front may be a problem for any metal valve stem so I wondered if anyone had managed to fit them and, if you did, which ones you used.

Thanks.

We refer to these as an Enkei style stem, it uses two jam nuts on the inside of the rim, leaving the outside with a nice clean look. Kurveygirl.com has 'em. 85 degree even. ::008::

I am using mine on the rubber stems no problem.
I thought about that Andy but the Garmin box clearly says 'For metal valve stems ONLY' (their emphasis) and when I was chatting to the mechanic in our local dealer about this he said he'd seen a couple of bikes come in with something similar attached and the valve stems were at 45 degrees, i.e. not seated properly, because they couldn't cope with the weight (the owners hadn't noticed). He wasn't trying to sell me anything as he had nothing that would fit.

For the sake of having to find some that do fit I'm not going to take the chance and on that note I'm off to Kurvygirl.com (thanks Don) to see what they have. I'd still be grateful if someone who has fitted them could tell me which ones definitely fit.

Edit: Oh, just noticed this is a duplicate question (original thread), sorry. I hadn't considered the height which is also an issue with right-angle valves. It looks like the 45 degree versions may fit...although no-one reported they'd confirmed that by fitting them.

There have been a few rubber valve stem failures with the extra weight on em, with rapid air loss, not a good thing to have happen. I don't remember what brand I'm using, found it at the local dealer but it is straight and not 45 degrees.

I have a 90 deg one fitted to the front. And will fit its mate to the rear next tyre change. Can't tell you the brand though, sorry.

With angled stems, I'd be wary of fitting any extra mass to the ends. Extra mass willl torque the gasket more than design and may result in air loss.

Mine have the lock nut on the outside, which means it can be easily tweaked if needed, and I did once. The double lock nuts on the inside are invisible and inaccessable if tweaking needed. Apparently not unknown for them to come loose too, but I read that on the interweb.

Make sure you get TR412. Common car ones are TR413. AFAIK its the hole diameter, but could also be thickness, not sure.

I too need to find some metal stems for my newly fitted 590.

I got the impression from searching around that I can just go to the auto parts store and get something, but maybe I'm naive.

If there's a known good solution, I'd love to hear it. I don't want any angle, just the metal equivalent of our stock stems.
