In talking to Tabasco tonight we feel it might be good to share a little more info with everyone about what to expect if you are looking to add a Power Commander and or the Autotune setup to your bike.

A lot will depend on the exact setup you choose to go with. The ability to share maps requires a very close match of hardware and even then, one map developed for a specific bike, setup, fuel and altitude etc is not guaranteed to be optimal for another bike of similar setup. Chances are it will be considerably better than stock setup. You need to know this going into it.

Always, the best option will be to have a custom map made for your bike and setup, or go with the Autotune setup.

Tabasco and I are choosing to go with the Autotune as it allows for continuous development of your own setup, what ever that may be.

If we look at the possibilities in stages:

1) Basic setup would be the aftermarket silencer of your choice and the stock fueling from the ECU. This can work fine but fueling will not be optimal.
An important modification anyone can do if needed is the airscrew adjustment and or CO exhaust gas adjustment. This makes a huge difference on a bike that needs the adjustment.
If you have an off-idle stumble or rough running in low RPM then you need this adjustment.

Airscrew adjustment can be found here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1973.0
CO exhaust gas adjustment here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1974.0

2) Add a PCV and the ability to use a shared map or custom map for your setup and the OEM headers. This gives considerable improvement over stock setup.

3) Go with Arrow or other Catless header to allow use of the Autotune setup.

It really depends on how far you want to take it. I just want to caution people not to expect to be able to order a PCV and posted map and automatically get the perfect setup out of the box. It may take some time and adjustment. YMMV.

Agree 100%.

It is the same thing you have to be aware of with any new maps. What works for you may not work for someone else, even with the same engine/exhaust mods.

I have experienced this over on the Tiger1050 site with Tuneboy and TuneECU modified engine maps. The maps will more than likely give you a really good starting point, but you cannot go into this blindly. Permanent engine damage could result if you are not sure with what you are doing.

::026:: SPEED, I would add to example (1) that with a exhaust can I would also suggest the Air Screw and CO settings to be both changed... This combo is GREAT over the stock bike. ::008::
