Madstad bracket adjustment

compared to the angle of the stock bracket, need to know what the neutral position of the Madstad is.

I see there's a slotted adjustment that allows you to change the angle of the shield -- move the shield towards you or away from you.

Would the "center" of the Madstad adjuster be the exact same angle as the stock bracket?

Thanks

I hadn't played with the OEM bracket to know if it tilted in and out, I thought it just moved up and down. The Madstat moves in and I'm sure it moves in closer to the rider than the OEM, even though I can't confirm the OEM moved in and out.

The OEM does not move in or out. The Madstad does.

What i'm needing is to move my Parabellum shield out from the angle of the OEM bracket.

Want to know where the shield would lie (angle) with the Madstad in the center of it's adjustment, in relation to the OEM bracket angle.
How much out and how much in (in inches, not stinking degrees) will the shield move with the Madstad.

I don't know the exact measurement, you'd likely need to put the old one on again and get a tape measure out. My impression is that stock is roughly midway on the Madstad or in other words, the Madstad gives you and inch or two forward and rear of the stock position as I recall the Madstad yields about 3 or 4 inches of tilt with a Parabellum tall, depending on where you measure it.

yeah that's what I would assume, but.......if for some strange reason the Madstad in the full forward position winds up at the same angle as the stock bracket, well, then it's not going to do what I want.

I know several here have installed the Madstad bracket on Gen 1 bikes, not sure if the angle of the dangle is any different on Gen 2 bikes.
Was hoping someone could confirm what I'm thinking before I spend the money.

Good point about comparing the stock shield to the Parabellum, I've not done that.

Thanks

The slots in the bracket (what allows the tilt as all as the up/down movement) between the Gen. One and two are identical I believe. In fact they look a whole lot like the ones I had on DL650 several years ago. The difference Is in the shield mounting tabs. The Gen two shield has different hole spacing which force the tabs to be in a different position. On my Gen. Two with a Parabellum tall that tilt allows you to tilt it significantly forward and rearward of the same shield on the stocker. The big difference between the two is that the Madstad has tilt and the ease with which that can be done. The bigger and taller your screen, the more those adjustments are magnified.

Great info rider33! Appreciate it.

I have the Parabellum medium. I'm 5'8" and the Parabellum seems most comfortable wind wise in the second hole from full lower, but it puts the top of the shield barely below my line of sight and makes for too much looking back and forth between through the shield and over it for my liking.

In the lowest position my view is happy but the hand guards crash into the shield with the bars at full lock. My experience says it's pretty rare to go full lock at speed, only comes into play when walking the bike about in a parking lot and such, or off road getting turned around in a tight area. However when the hand guards hit and move the shield a bit, it makes for a bit of an oh shit moment.

I figger the Madstad would allow me to run the Parabellum in more positions and get it off the bars in the stock low position, and it also looks like a much better way to move and adjust the shield compared to the stock set up. It may be an expensive experiment.

Now, who has a like new Madstad bracket for half price! :-\ ::013::
