right before the rain started in earnest I had to pee. so I stand next to my truck (I am in the gravel pit ) to do my biz.... bright white flash and explosion , not sure if it was rain or pee flying about ,I got back into my truck . lightning is dangerous and indiscriminate , and being outside when its flying about is crazy.
I have seen and I have friends who do not seem to respect what it can do . riding a motorcycle is about the same as standing in the rain... you can be a target . it was a reminder of what not to do when a storm is around . I was not dirt biking or riding my super Tenere or even just being outside at home when the storm started . but being aware of these things could save your life . imagine being somewhere in the middle of no where and being caught in a storm . what is your plan????

I’m just thinking it could be a lot of fun , the BV400 I’m sitting on is probably better in some ways but I like the classic looks of the Vespa. And one day it’s resale value would be better. I’m really like the touring model. So we will see .

of course my friends are giving me crap about wanting to try a scooter .... they want me to buy a dual sport ... DR650 . great bike , I had a 2009 model for 3 years ... I have a super Tenere and a beta 300 rr ,so don't need to prove myself... it is tempting to buy a DR 650 , simple to own and work on , gets scooter milage (maxi scooters) and can go any where . but what to do ? BV400, GTS300, or DR650 ?

very true Sierra ...... well I will keep it for a while and see how I use it . resale is good so if I end up saying what was I thinking I could of had a vespa , then I will sell it or trade it. it is definitely lighter than my Tenere .

im going to use it as a light commuter bike . and for exploring some remote areas (nothing crazy) gravel roads mostly . my first Farkle will be headlight upgrade to LED , mirrors , rear rack so I can carry something , skid plate ..... later a new seat , maybe a larger gas tank , tires that are more 50/50. etc.
and as for my interest in a scooter , only postponed for awhile . I still want a vespa.

yesterday I took the tour tech folding adventure / dirt bike type mirrors off the Tenere and put them on the DR.... much better for the DR. I put the original Tenere mirrors back on the Tenere . saved a few dollars that way .
