It sounds crazy but to get the full experience there is nothing like Death Valley in the summertime. At the Devils Golf Course the salt formations crackle and snap from the heat expansion. The Artists Pallet drive is a wonder of the world in summer as the colors of the mountainside are vivid and pop out and almost seem to move with the heat. The issue is of course the heat. It is close to 130 degrees in the day and never gets below 100 degrees even at night.what's the best time of the year to tour Death Valley ? its on my list .
Nooooo!!!Not a dirt bike . But I look like I could own it
I was going to say early to mid spring or mid to late fall. (Basically this weekend would have been perfect!) Wind can be an issue this time of year, given the much larger swing between the daytime highs and nighttime lows, but for comfortable temperatures, this is a much better time. Of course, as Chris mentioned, because Death Valley is known as one of the hottest places on earth, there are those who visit at peak temps for the experience...It sounds crazy but to get the full experience there is nothing like Death Valley in the summertime. I could go on but you get the idea. I have went once in the summer and burned up the transmission and killed the AC in my truck. This was back in about 1995 or so. And it's actually a popular time of the year for European folks to visit. Go figure.
The funnest time to go on a motorcycle is around late November to early December. It's not so crowded and the weather is cool but mild. The most popular time is February and March. But it's very crowded. All the popular trails are dry and dusty with dozens of ADV bikes at any given time. I personally like to enjoy the pavement on the big bikes and just have a dual sport for the serious off road sections.
The sand and off road trail conditions can be brutal. You can ride for over 75 miles on a smooth fire road and come across stuff that is virtually impassable without serious riding skills.
What ya' getten'? They are local to me. I had them do some carb mods and adjustable leak jet to my bike and a cylinder hone for my 300. It's a great shop.Waiting on Fed Ex to deliver some upgraded parts from TokyoMods. Supposed to be delivered yesterday, now pending.
Funny you mention that. The time I went there in the summer, after visiting, I drove right to my parents house in Boulder City. It was not much better as far as temperatures go!! LOL!! At least I had the lake to cool off in.Of course, as Chris mentioned, because Death Valley is known as one of the hottest places on earth, there are those who visit at peak temps for the experience...
