I did the NEBDR last year with my DRZ and this year will be doing the MABDR in early June on the S10. I currently am running a set of ContiAttack Trails, which I am very happy with, but they are probably 90 road focused. I would like to spoon on some tires for the trip, so riding road from Gettysburg to Damascus, Va. running the MABDR and returning home on the road and then putting the ContiAttack's back on. What suggestions do you have for a pretty heavily off road biased tire that will still hold up to the trip and maybe one other in the future and still be grippy through a slimy creek crossing? Thank you!

I would recommend the Dunlop Trailmax Mission. It's a 50/50 tire, but for the MA it works great. I did it in Sept 2020 and it worked well on the ride down (from Maine), and on the route. I'm now on my second set, love them.

Leave the Conti Attack Trails on and do the ride. They will work as well as anything else. There is a lot of hype about this tire and that tire, 80-20 this and 50-50 that, but the fact is S-10's are HEAVY and powerful bikes for off road and a little bit of extra tread blocks don't do shit for extra traction. More tread on the ground is actually beneficial in slippery creeks and hard pack. IF, you could install the type of knobby that you can run on a proper off road bike, that would make some difference, and IF the bike was 300 lbs lighter, knobbies would make a huge difference, but as it is, what you have, works as well anything. I know the naysayers will try and dispute this, but that is because they have never tried it, or never ridden with me.
