Low Seat Concepts seat will not latch down

I think it was a big mistake getting this seat.
I waited way beyond their time estimate to only receive the seat with the seat bracket mounted backwards.
Then I had to send it back. Their mistake they admitted it.
Fine I got my seat today and it won't latch down. To me I think the bracket they put on the seat is not long enough to contact the latch.
I so wanted to make this seat work. Its seems to be of a nice quality but I bet they did not even try fitting it on a Tenere. It should fit on mt 2016.
I must comment as the the wrinkles on the seat skin. The first seat I got from them had no wrinkles but this second seat I think they put a rookie on it.
I am very disappointed and pissed. This whole ordeal has taken 2 months.
I plan to send it back and ask for a full refund.

I have a seat concepts kit which I fitted myself I can't see why the latch is affected, surely it just has lower foam as it uses the stock seat pan.

I had trouble getting a Corbin seat to latch a couple days ago, in my case putting a washer between the bracket and the seat solved the problem.

If you look at the seat mods to change the angle they use smaller rubber grommets have the ones on your seat been altered may be.

I've done 6 Seat Concepts recover kits on 4 bikes. One WR250R, 2 Teneres front and rear, and a KTM 690r. On both Teneres, I found that I need to push down on the front of the seat while holding the key in the unlatched position. Leave off either action and it won't latch. Same with the back of the KTM 690r, plus it adds a touch of length which makes the gas cap a pain to open and close. (The KTM gas cap is the world's worst design and is at the back end of the seat.)

I think they add just enough padding under the edges to hold the seat up very slightly.

btw - I'm very satisfied with the ride on the seats.

Just so everyone understands the low seat when you order the complete built seat from Seat Concepts is NOT the factory seatpan. It is of their own making and a black color.
I have tried everything including asking my 250lb bodybuilder and custom Harley builder to get this seat on. No luck. We both believe the bracket that contacts the latch is too short.
Oh and I did try the suggestion of turning the key to the seat on to get it to latch - no go.

Not sure I understand your problem...but the seat concepts low I bought fits a bit tight at first. You leave the high low bracket off the bike and the seat sits on the frame of the bike. You may need to pull the plastic rear tab out and down a bit...it bends and fits under the rear clip on the back. Not sure that will make sense, let me know I will try to reword this if needed.

I rarely take my corbin seat off , and when putting it back on it has been a bear at times..... the bracket that adjust seat height , well I keep forgetting the seat tongue has to go under the adjuster bracket thing or it will not latch no matter how many body builders push on it. you might check that I am betting its that simple..... hope this makes sense to you.... the seat height adjuster is in the way..... the seat tongue has to go under the thin white part of the seat adjuster bracket.

the low seat?

The problem is it will NOT go back far enough. the "tab" that goes underneath is too long. you can try this but installing the seat and NOT putting the back tab underneath the bracket. If it goes on fine then remove about a quarter inch off the back of the tab. Make it shorter if you will. You can also tell as there is a notch on the front of the seat that has to drop down so the seat can be pushed back, the seat should hit up against the passenger seat, if there a gap the seat is not going back far enough.

Hope this helps..............let me know

Yeah so I bought this seat too. I even sold my RDL seat for it, which I had bought used in the first place and was too high for me with the stock ride height. I went back to stock ride height after having the bike lowered and it was really difficult to get my feet on the ground.

My 2pennies worth...

First, Everyone needs to understand that this seat pan is completely custom to get it low enough for us short inseam folks. You must remove the stock height adjusting bracket to get the seat in place. Second, if they installed the latch backwards, it would take all of 30 seconds to spin it around with a screw driver. Not sure why you'd send it back for that. I had to play with mine, I bent it forwards/backwards/side to side, then finally got it to latch. Thinking about maybe trimming it up a bit. so I can use my helmet hooks under the seat again without it being irritating to unlatch/latch that hook everytime.

Last, this seat is NOT comfortable, and it's just the way the seat is designed. It's great for getting my feet on the ground and overall better control of the bike. I've had three seat concepts seats on three bikes. KLR650 Low Commuter seat, KTM500 EXC standard height seat and Super Tenere Low saddle and passenger foam/cover. The KTM standard height seat is OK for a dirtbike seat, The 500 will wear me out faster than the seat will. Whatever density foam they use, it is not acceptable on their low seats. It's likely just a physical limitation - there may not be a better foam density to use, without enough room for the foam to "squish" it's just hard and literally a pain in the butt. The KLR Low seat was just as painful and there is maybe an inch of padding on the S10 Low seat. Here's the icing on the cake. Wife reports the passenger seat is MORE COMFORTABLE than the Russell Day Long Saddle. The passenger seat has about 4 inches of foam density to work with so I bet it's significantly more comfortable that the riders saddle.

If you look at the bottom of the seat and the latch is is impossible to just turn it around with a screwdriver because of the molded seat pan ridge it is against.
Even the foreman at Seat Concepts said it had to go back to them to be disassembled because it is not and bolted from behind.

Anyway the problem is solved.
One member said - The seat adjuster bracket is not used on the seat concepts low seat...If you have this hi low bracket on the bike the seat will not fit.
I did not know this. The Seat Concepts guy did not suggest this either. Thank you all for helping me.
So I removed the plastic bracket and with a few tries I got it to lock. So the problem is solved.
Sorta because I still am having a hard time getting past the wrinkles in the skin. I think the foam is bent up in the forward part of the seat too.
I just don't like the look. The first seat they sent me did not have this issue. it was beautiful.

Let it sit in the sun for a day and see if it irons out. If it still has wrinkles after that I would send it back unless you're comfortable with a Harbor freight pneumatic stapler. I covered both the passenger seat on my S10 and KTM with seat concepts covers myself. It's relatively easy and cheap (15 bucks for the stapler and 5 bucks for the T-50 staples). I hate not riding because I some part is in the mail for weeks at a time. You can take up the old staples with a flat head screw driver and use a heat gun or a hair drier to get it warm, then restaple it. Less complicated than it sounds.

I can't believe it most of the wrinkles came out after baking it and massaging it in the sun all day.
Great idea.
I am gonna keep it. However i do agree you do give up some comfort padding for the love version seat.

I'm glad that worked...It was a bit of a disappointment for the first few rides but then it broke in and got much better. I find that a lot of things contribute to seat fatigue, my rox risers put me in a better spot on the seat and I lowered the foot pegs with an aftermarket peg. I rode one day for 13 hours and it was good. I find that speed does add fatigue odd but feels like I can sit longer at slower speeds than at high speeds...pressure changes I guess, maybe vibrations but really I can't feel any. I think it's the best all day bike I ever had. I think everyone has a different configuration based on size. I'm 5-10 190lbs 30" inseam...I needed to get the handlebars back a bit I was leaning in way too much, my weight was on my wrists. Adjustments are necessary on almost all bikes I have owned some I just gave up on. This one I stayed at it till it was as good as it gets...good luck with yours you are on the right track. I have about 6K on this seat and I feel it's a good one.

Dryrider or anyone can you tell me the exact size Rox riser you have.
I need to know diameter size for the correct fit with the stock bars. I want to do that too.

I finally got to ride it last night for a few hours.
I am going to return the seat and keep the stocK seat with the bumper mod.
For my body it is just as low and has a more comfortable ride with my butt.
Everyone's different.

Rox makes a set of Tenere specific risers for the 2014 and up. If you have a older one I believe you can use the Rox universal riser. Mine is 2 inch and works well for me. I don't know the exact size handle bar but Rox has a website that can help you. The Tenere had different clamps on the gen 1 than on the gen 2. I would not have been able to get comfortable without them. Let me know if you need more help and I'll dig in and get you more info!
