My Sierra Clip 3 Tent is a good one but I think I'd like to try a free standing one. Usually this time of year, REI as well as others have a tent sale-don't they? If anyone hears of a good deal on the Hubba Hubba, would you mind sending me a PM??

Thanks!!

Pete

REI currently, 10/7-16, has a...
20% off one full price item
30% off one Clearance or REI-Outlet.com item
50% off one shop service or gear rental

You might register your interest at slickdeals.net - it has a pretty nice alert function and a pretty big community who post when they see stuff on sale.

I have the Hubba Hubba and its a nice tent. What I like the most is how easy it is to set up and how it is freestanding. (I'll NEVER own a tent with sleeves for tent poles again.) But.... it has one big drawback: it's entirely mesh without the rain fly - great for hot weather, but drafty in cool or cold weather. I may have to buy a warmer tent as I nearly froze a couple nights camping last year on the Macgruder Corridor.

Appreciate the info Mark. I really would like something that's free standing, easy to set up, and won't cost me an arm and a leg. Your warning of cold and drafty has now got me thinking though. I do camp most of the year(if snow is on the ground, I'll take my 4Runner and leave the ST in the garrage! :) )

My personal comfort range with this tent is about 40-F overnight. If you do end up getting one, make sure you've got a 20-deg bag to go with it.

I've got a pretty good sleeping bag-Wiggy. I wish it would pack down a little smaller. I thought about going with a down bag but if I have some bad luck and get it wet, it's going to be a long night!
Thanks again for the info!!

bigagnes.com has some really good tents and sleelping bags. They're kind a pricey, but you can get stuff for darn near any intended use...an entire range of warmth a comfort as well.
