Good to know. Thanks.I switched all the Yamaha luggage and brackets from my 2013 non ES to my new 2018 ES and everything fit fine, it was my first time so it took quite awhile but it really wasn’t very difficult.

Yes, those two brackets are still on the bike and aren’t required. I just need to take them off. I was wondering why the new bolts supplied from Givi were too short for that mounting spot. Thanks for the heads up!@Alphalfa, you are missing 2 brackets from your photos. They are the 2 support braces that bolt to the inside of the passenger peg mounts. Shown top right in my photo....

I don't know about the 2023, but I recall you need a Torx tamper-proof 50 (pretty sure that's the size) for the back mounting bolt. I found mine at Home Depot. I think the bolt comes with the install kit.I know you said these came off your 2018 model. I wonder if they would mount to my '23 ST ES without any additional work needed (i.e. more hardware, drilling holes, etc.)?
Yes, they will w/o any additional. My '17 will be the exact same as the '23. Completely bolt on. He's right about the security bit(s). I was lucky and my dealer let me mount the hardware, with his tools, in the shop.I know you said these came off your 2018 model. Sounds like a dealer worth knowing. Most of the time they won’t let you out the back citing “safety” or something equally stupid.Yes, they will w/o any additional. When buying my new 2018 ES I was dealing with a few different dealers, one dealer wanted $400 to transfer the luggage, the dealer I wound up buying from told me I could transfer everything myself using his shop and leave my tools at home and use theirs they would even help if I needed any assistance all free of any charges. That was the first and only time I ever used any Snap-On tools and now I understand why so many mechanics are willing to pay the extra high prices for Snap-On tools.Yes, they will w/o any additional. So, you might be interested in this. Harbor Freight has started carrying a "new" ratchet. It doesn't say Snap-on, but it looks and feels like Snap-on. And it doesn't cost like Snap-on tools. It has a 72-tooth count. (the latest Snap-on has an 80 count) 3/8" - $12.99 and a lifetime guarantee. 1/2" - $14.99. 1/4" - $10.99. I've been using them for a year or two and love them.. . . . I do own a few of the 72 tooth Harbor Freight ratchets they are nice but the Snap-On ratchets are even nicer, I never really believed that until I actually used themSo, you might be interested in this. Very true. In my experience it's becoming more and more difficult to find a good dealer.Sounds like a dealer worth knowing. Most of the time they won’t let you out the back citing “safety” or something equally stupid.
I have an old 3/8" drive Snap-on. (I think I "borrowed" it from my brother in law) It feels like the HR version(s). I suspect that when Snap-on went to the 80-tooth count (2012), they allowed others to use their 72-tooth count version. Regardless, the HR version is my go to.I do own a few of the 72 tooth Harbor Freight ratchets they are nice but the Snap-On ratchets are even nicer, I never really believed that until I actually used them
So I would need special tools to install these side cases to my '23? That's not good because I have a very basic set of tools in my garage.Yes, they will w/o any additional. The only "special tool" you should need is the big security torx I mentioned earlier. Look under the Luggage subforum for a post from 9/22/2018 titled OEM Side Case Install. Number 25 redponse shows the instructions and should answer most of your questions. Almost everything can be found with a Forum search. So I would need special tools to install these side cases to my '23? That's not good because I have a very basic set of tools in my garage.
Just the security Torx bits. Most of them are smaller, but there's a big one that I think someone said is a #50. Yeah, it's "special" tool, but it's available in a bunch of places and they're not very expensive. So I would need special tools to install these side cases to my '23? Thanks but unfortunately I can't find the post you're referring to. Thanks again. You have been so helpful.
"I" don't get good results from the Forum search box. I use Google. Ironically, Google provides the correct Forum thread to find what I'm looking for. Thanks again. You have been so helpful.
That's good to know. I tried and tried and couldn't find the thread he was talking about. I'll use Google next time."I" don't get good results from the Forum search box. I use Google. Ironically, Google provides the correct Forum thread to find what I'm looking for.
