I bought a Road Proof from local auto supply store. I added 10 gauge EC5 pigtails up by the dashboard. These have a fuse and diode so it is safer but can't be used for aux power feed.

Be careful about throwing one of these in a tailbox where it can be beat around. Lithium batteries should be secured and protected. Mine fits nicely under the high position seat.

ended up buying a DBPOWER 1600A one off amazon same as TABASCO, now can i ask you guys it has the EC5 connector with crocodile clips
and we mentioned putting a pigtail to the battery for easy use
can i ask again is a pigtail instead of crocodile clips doable, if so if a buy a EC5 connector what size cable do i need and what terminals would be best for battetry

cheers

Don't know about the clips and connector, but I'll reinforce what the others said about keeping it in some type of padding to protect from vibration and rattling. Even the bubble Amazon plastic mailer pouch will do.

Yes you can. Something like below. You can also find them with battery spade lugs already attached. Check your polarity to jump pack carefully before connecting.

If you have a pigtail on the bike battery to charge it with the Optimate you do not want to use that to jump start the bike. That probably has an SAE connector and would not fit in the jump start port on the XP-3 anyway.

You would need to order the 16″ Clampless Starting Harness (or the 42")
This will have the ring connectors for the bike battery on one end and the connector on the other should match the connector on the clamps that came with the XP-3. This unique connector is the only thing that will fit in the jump start port on the XP-3

XP-3 Micro-Start Jump-Starter – Antigravity Batteries
My plan is to use the optimate croc clips that plug into the Sae socket then clip them to the Xp3 clips. Not sure if the optimate battery harness is up to the ampage that would be required though. I bet someone who knows about those wiggly amp things would be able to work it out?

This is my understanding of how you are thinking about connecting your XP-3 to jump start your bike.
[Bike battery]--[Optimate pig tail]--[Optimate pig tail]--[XP-3 pig tail]--(XP-3 jump start battery)
_________________(ring terminal / SAE)_________(SAE / Clamps)________(Clamps / EC5)

In your previous post you said "I’m not that confident that the Optimate charging cable would handle the sort of current required for starting so my plan B would be to connect direct to the battery."

I would agree with your concerns and your plan B.

The sticker on my Optimate-3 lists the output current as 0.8 amps. The pigtails that come with it are both 18 AWG with SAE connectors (one with clamps and one with ring terminals). I'm not sure what the SAE connectors are rated at but I think they are generally used on circuits that are 15 amps or less.
You are talking about a much higher current to jump start the bike with the XP-3.

What I am suggesting is:
Keep your pigtail (ring terminal/SAE) on the battery for your Optimate and other accessories.
Add a second pigtail (ring terminal/EC5 connector) so there is just one pigtail between your bike battery and XP-3.

You can order one from Antigravity that has some protection built into the harness or see some of the suggestions above for pigtails on ebay or Amazon.

I have two ring terminals on each of my battery posts.
  • One to a fuse box that feeds other circuits.
  • One to a Clampless Harness for my jump start battery.
The ring terminal on the Clampless Harness had a much larger diameter so I put it on first.
