I keep my S10 snuggled up next to my Vespa GT200 in an unheated, detached garage that was once a former potting shed. We get mice in there every winter, but they usually make a nest in the rafters or down by the holes in the cinder block foundation. I put out traps and bait, and by mid January, I've usually eradicated the problem.

Since it hit nearly 50 today, I decided to move the snowblower and back my bikes out of there for the first turnover since I put 'em to bed back in December.

As I was backing my Vespa out, I noticed some stuff poking out of the front cowling vents.

Sumabitch!

Some little critters decided to bed down in a little Italian condo this past winter. Haven't been able to open it up and see if there was any wire-snacking...but she did turnover.

I eyeballed the S10—no visible intrusion, but I'm gonna look closer.

Anyone else get unwanted bike tenants this past hard winter?

I through Tom Cat all around and it takes care of rats and mice almost instantly. When they die, there is a chemical in the poison that eliminates any odor.

I put moth balls in one of those little round screen cricket bait holders. I place these under a tarp when I store stuff. Works well under a car hood to keep squirrels out. The screen prevents the possibility of critters ingesting the moth balls and then turning you in for cruelty to animals.

That's just sick ::007::

A few years ago when i had a VFR800 'onda, a family of mice took over the airbox for the winter. The little blighters even stocked up on peanuts meant for the bird feeders. Looked a right sight in the spring !

Bikes made it through the winter safe and sound but I keep traps set all winter and caught 11. Presumably on their way to my bikes.. :)

And BTW, I took all precautionary measures. This is from my personal motoblog, back in December when I put the bikes to sleep for the winter. apologies if you saw this when I shared it then: http://longitudeandgratitude.com/2014/11/23/goodnight-vroom/

Haha, hey I can relate to those thoughts... I ride multiple bikes, and platforms/categories. My favourite bikes are a couple of Burgman 650 Executives. I have a K7 and a new L4 which I purchased last year trading a K4 in the process.. Another maxi scoot that also has a place in the garage here in China is a Jetmax, manufactured locally by CFMoto. Current rides are XT1200Z, CF650-TR, AN650's (as described), Jetmax, G650GS which I bought late last year (2014) and farkled to the max, then rode from China (near Shanghai) all the way to northern Thailand, where I covered 22K km in 8 weeks, then rode back again. I took the G650GS as it was the most suited to the terrain (i.e. crap road surface conditions locally, dirt, rock, 4x4 & single tracks in Thailand [fantastic!]. If some manufacturer can combine a maxi scoot with a DS/ADV then I'd be in like Flin.
After a full days riding on the Burgman's I could easily climb aboard to do a few hundred more - I feel still quite 'fresh'. Riding anything else in my stable aside from the scoots for a whole day and then some, and getting off at my destination - I often feel as though I have been riding all day. Not so on any of the maxi's...

The NC700D & NC750D Integra scoot's are a little closer than the average maxi scoot, towards handling some secondary roads and light easy gravel or smooth dirt... especially if one spooned on a set of TK70's or say Metzler Karoo 3's like I have on my ADV bikes...

Anyway shrekonwheels, I hear ya brudda, and so do the tens and tens of millions here in Asia... and likely a few many million more in Europe.
