Pelican 1120 case, about $24, fits nicely behind a US sized license plate and provides useful storage for items that you need ready access to - I plan to put the primary components of my first aid kit here.

The plate light no longer illuminates the plate and it remains to be seen if that will be a problem.

How did you mount the storage tube. I have one but I haven't been able to find a practical mounting point on the S10

I just hung mine on the OE plate bracket. On the way down to Bonneville last August the bracket broke. Zip ties deployed, it's on the winter project list to make a porkier bracket.

I have my air compressor and some tire plug stuff in mine.

That's what I did on my BMW too. Used it for a first aid kit and left it unlocked all the time. My reasoning was, never know when someone would have to use it on me. Nobody ever messed with it and Pelican cases are bomb proof.

KCampbell- what is that bottle compartment thing under your center rack? Was hoping you could tell me the brand as it looks like a good fit...

It's a tool tube. Not sure what exact brand he's using but there are many out there. Great for tools. Garbage for security.

The only issue I could see is LE could ticket you because the plate is not lit properly. No plate light is a favorite of LE for probably cause the pull you over. Easily fixe by just adding a small LED over the plate. I have a Vololight frame on my plate that has an integrated light already.

I'd like to see what it looks like from the rear with the box closed.

This thread motivated me to try this since I needed a good place to put my First Aid Kit.

Here are the results...
Plate mounted with Vololights frame

Water tight plug added so I didn't need to add a long section of wire. Since its you won't need to access the First Aid kit often (hopefully) I felt the plug was a better solution.

Sure is, no plate light is used constantly by LE for a pretext stop.
