I'm sure others may breath more freely, but at the expense of more noise. For my tastes, I didn't want that. As for power, there is not a lot of HP increase, but as the Akra graph shows, it really improves the torque curve, especially at the bottom and then again about 6,000. Akrapovic's reuptation is one of the best in the world in designing and building aftermarket exhausts and I think they have accomplished quite a bit in building this silencer.

We all have different tastes in everything, including our bikes and accessories, but this one fills the bill for me. YMMV.

my point exaclty you want more power you need more noise, you want minimal noise you will get minimal gains ;)

I don't know about that - my wife can be pretty noisy, but doesn't have the power.....is that the same  :D :D :D

I'm sure REM would have a smart alec comment if he saw this as well.

There is only one Akrapovic exhaust for the XT1200Z and this is the one... The muffler cannot be removed.

Hi,
I just don’t understand why anyone needs/wants to increase the sound level of their bikes. At this point in time I feel the greatest threat to our life style is loud exhaust. Here in the New England every town, city, county and state is passing their own sound ordnances because they’ve had enough. Stop being part of the problem and become part of the solution. If you want more HP get your ECU updated. Loud is not the answer and you’re hurting the rest of the sport.
Later,
Norm

Interesting topic. When I was talking with TOSCO in Parma in September I asked him about choice in aftermarket exhaust. The Akra viz. Leo Vince question came up. He said to go with the Leo Vince because it works very well, is well made and quite a bit cheaper. Also suggested to go for a full exhaust system, less restrictive air filter and improved fuel mapping.

When I do this mod I will go with the Leo Vince. Roughly 600 MSRP in the US viz near 1000 for the Akra slip on.

U Tube has videos of both the Akra slip on and the Leo Vince Slip on to see and listen to. I like the Leo Vince sound. For contrast (if you want loud) watch the Arrow headers and Arrow slip on video. In the end.....buy what you like. :)

BTW....I agree that Loud Pipes Annoy the Neighbours. ::007::

Hi Roger J,
Glad to hear your thinking you're on the right side of loud pipe issue but unless the pipe has an EPA stamp or the manufacturer can supply certification that it passes sound test SAE J2825 you're still part of the problem.
Later,
Norm

Yes and the Leo Vince is 556.00. I just worry about melting the fender. I guess I could put that downspout on it. Does that come with the pipe?

How much for the Arrow Headers with the bung installed for the Power Commander Auto-tune?

Has Arrow fixed their seemly poor QA on the ST headers that several on the site have experienced (excessive tubing bender marks, etc)?

We can add the new Stainless bung in the proper location for Auto tune... I can also suggest a few places for the PCV & AT... PM or call if ya like... Ive seen many sets of the ARROW headers and the bend marks are not bad, they are mandrel bent.. There are a few scuff marks from the mandrel benders. If someone does not like that look, you can take a little steel wool and W-40 and 30 minutes... They look good... After you ride it and they turn gold, cant even tell.............. After you ride with the new headers, YOU WONT CARE about a little mark in the tube............. :D

Why hasn't anyone just cut the OEM headers before the CAT and DIY headers? They already have the O2 sensors.
