What's the deal with all the expensive LED lights. 260 dollars? I'm finding lots of choices at Auto Pro, Auto Zone and others, for 30 or forty bucks. Any reason these won't work?

typically what autozone puts on their shelf is bling. it's cheap and is not made to last. the lights made by rigid, solstice, PIAA, whelen are well engineered with the guarantee they will last a long time. and they have some sort of warranty and customer support. they will also withstand the vibrations and jarring of being attached to a motorcycle.

OP, $260 when compared to a $14k motorcycle? Ok, so you may of bought it used or at a great deal. BUt really, this isn't much for years of engineering and if installed correctly, no breakdowns for a long time. The auto parts stuff, doesn't have beam pattern, doesn't stand up to vibrations, isn't as bright...you get what I am saying. Dozens of people here have used, abused and ridden very hard with their PIAA or RIGID, or Solstice and they last. Do you also think spending good $$ for a helmet is a waste?
The switches also will last along time too and are weather proof for the most part.
When I wire something into the bike, I am only doing it with Factory connectors as much as possible and soldering my wires instead of butt connectors. If i have a wiring problem in the middle of the mountains on a rough nasty forest service road, I will be shocked and probably sit there and scratch my head at it.

Good luck and keep us posted. We are all here to help you. Oh, and look at forum want ads, there are sometimes good deals there to save you some money.

Racer, ADVRIDer.com has a huge want ads section for stuff like this to help you save some cash. MOst are stand up people behind the obnoxious attitude.

Okay, Okay, sorry it's the KLR in me. I don't ride at night, but was just looking for something to fill the big hole under the headlights. Was thinking about a beak, like half a super moto fender, but am still on the fence on that one.

KLR? Just cut a piece of 2x4, paint it rattle can black and bolt it in to the existing holes there with some long hardware store bolts, (or baling wire if you can find any left over from your KLR). Problem solved.

If you need lights, you need good lights.

Baja designs has many very well built lights as well.. Only one with a lifetime warranty that im a wear of ..... In my humble opinion, if your looking for lights to make your bike 'look' like a ADV bike that can go around the world, buy whatever you want.. You will have the "look".... If you might find yourself out in a desert at 3AM or riding in deer infested back roads at night getting to your location, INVEST in quality.... It might save your life one day...... I've personally run Baja lights on my personal bikes for years.. I'm very happy with the sets I've purchased before. I personally have no reason to look anywhere else but these guys for my light needs... American made, lifetime warranty, high quality product you can trust in when your depending on a ton of extra light... I have 10800 lumens on my Tenere, and I use them often ! ::26::

Tabasco, I have been thinking about these lights. I saw these one and wondering what is the difference with the ones you have installed on your bike? Are they sold individually or in a pair? What do I need to install them? What is the price?

The picture you posted looks to be the squadron cornering light… The ones I have are the spot driving.. There are two spot and two flood in each light. (four LED pod) They are 3600 lumens each….. Yes, they are sold separately.. In fact I have installed just one on several bikes and the customers were happy with the one. Very bright… And you can wire then up about 20 different ways to do anything you want..

On my personal Tenere I have a set of these Squadrons under the headlights. I have a set of S2 squadrons on my handle bars. Top it off I installed HID in the factory headlights…. I often find myself out in the back woods late at night or looking for a place to camp… I have also been out in Utah and New Mexico 100+ miles away from any paved roads late at night..

If you GOOGLE "Baja Designes S2" you will see several pictures of my Tenere pop up and you can check them out on the bike……

I have this light, waiting on the Skene controller and some connector bits to fulfill the install. I have a question about the vertical light pattern. How sharp is the cutoff? I'm not too keen on lighting the sky in front of me and was wondering if I'll want to fashion some sort of brow for it.

HAHA, This is what convinced me to buy the Rigid Industries 6" driving lights. LOVE them. Yes they are very bright.

I have mimicked Jaxon's setup and I am never out of light. I run the one's under the headlights even during the day and it gets me SEEN by cagers. The little S2's on the bars are just a very bright bonus for tight cornering at night in the dirt.

Its not bad, here is a video. Not me, but my light shines exactly the same. Actually one thing about that lights that annoys me is the reflection off street signs at night. Its blinding...LOL!
