I have been trying to scour ebay on this, but there is too much fluff and I was wondering if anyone else has this setup. I want a LED waterproof light to mount on the bike to use as a worklight or ambient light (kind of like an interior light in a car). It has to run on it's own battery and be mountable. This would be used for camping when arriving at dark and need a worklight on the bike or when I go to work so I can grab items from my panniers in the near dark dirt parking lot I park in.
Any ideas? Thanks!

There are several options availiable.. You can get many LED lights on stalks that can plug into your socket on the front.. You can also did what I did on the front. I have some that light up the dash for maps, Etc........... Mine are hard wired in.... If you have to have them on there own power we have worked with our LED supplier for more than ten years, we can custom make anything you want... It wont be "Walmart" price but you can have exactly what you want.......

On my bike.....

This is quite slick for a setup. You must have a switch hidden somewhere you can access. I'm guessing that it is also waterproof.
I need a universal setup that I can do for 2 bikes. One a KLR. I don't necessarily need it Walmart cheap, but would like a switch to be able to turn it on separate from the ignition key. Battery operated is easiest, but I can also wire to my power distribution blocks on both bikes as well.

Not exactly sure how waterproof this is, but I would assume it is pretty tight based on other Maxxeon lights I have purchased. I will also say that these things are extremely bright for there size....

This looks quite high quality, but would like a semi-permanent solution, something I don't have to hold and can leave on the bike.

I just found a plethora of options on superbrightleds dot com. Thanks for the ideas. I've just created some of my own in my mind, now to make some purchases and install.

I know it's cheesy, but it's cheap, temporary, and flexible.

I have one of these "gripped" onto my clutch master cylinder. It's aimed at the top of my instrument cluster where my non-backlit outside temperature gauge is mounted so I can read it in the dark. Easy to re-purpose as necessary.

I must say though, for camping duties, nothing beats a headlamp - the kind that strap to your noggin.

P.S. I should probably confess that I have a flashlight fetish

Clever little critter. I like it.

But that little fella in my avatar would snatch that so fast!
I would need several. And hide them.

Hit the local truck stop and see what they have. I got a small battery powered LED that has white and red light and will flash as well. Mounts with a clip or magnet and was under $10.
