The cheaper one might be a flood pattern. The driving pattern is more money.
Tried it out tonight. I don't know how I rode in the dark before. Major difference
for the better.Well worth the investment. ::008::

Did you have to shape (grind) the brackets to get them to fit?

I have had the lights ($210) for a couple months and have not installed them because of the lack of wiring knowledge. Plus I want a 50% dimmer switch though recently spoke with tech support and they do not expect anything until 2013. I am also considering installing a pair of Dually's http://www.rigidindustries.com/Dually-2x2-LED-Lights-Set-of-two-p/twoduallys.htm . Not sure which configuration.

Right where they mount with existing Yamaha bolts I cut it down a little for a flush fit
without hitting the bottom of the headlight. I suppose you could also drill a new hole
in the bracket to lower it as well. I also put it in a vise and bent it down some.
In hindsight I may have not needed that adjustment.

The factory wiring is very straight forward. I don't know why you want a dimmer switch, kinda defeats the purpose of
having the bright beam. I chose to put a simple relay with the high beam as the trigger wire. So the light comes
on with the high beams. I was in the dark (and cold) last night and it so nice to have such a bright view of the road.

I looked at the dual lights a well. I just liked how nicely the bar style fit in the front on the Tenere.

California Traffic... there are times I will ride with the high beams on while in traffic and I don't need to piss off 20 cars in front of me. If I have a 50% mode that should be good enough.

Rigid Industries is developing the switch and it should be released early 2013.

Did you read the Baja Designs OnX thread? Nice lights though more expensive. They have a switch that has 100%, 50%, and Strobe.

I see. Pissing off ten cars does sound nicer. ;)

A Rigid Industries light bar is coming my way. I plan to wire it the same way as you did, does the light come with a relay? if not, any specific relay I should be looking for?

I just used a standard auto relay. The high beam wire is yellow. I tapped into it down above the battery.
There is a wire bundle connection inside the rubber boot cut back the wrapped wires to free up the yellow
to connect the high beam trigger wire.

The light does not come with a relay. Standard relay that looks like this is easy to wire in.

I installed the Dually D2's today. I am like you describe yourself very challenged when it comes to wiring. I used the existing OEM plugs near the tool kit to catch the switch power.

I ordered some pre made connectors from Vizi-tec (makes brake modulators). All i had to do in the end is cut the positive and negative terminal off the Rigid Harness, and use the pre made pigtails to attach to the OEM light plug.

I think i would also like to add a light bar as well.. "Its all about Lumens in 2013"

Good to know about the switch coming our way. Thanks tomatocity-!!
You must mean riding in traffic with high beams during the day as I do sometimes. It's my/our ass on the line O:) (Thats why I find the full range dimmer on the Clearwater lights so helpful - low beams only though)

I am still trying to decide which light(s) to buy. I like the idea and look of the bar style but also would go with two round ones.
So for me it's down to the Rigids, the Baja Designs 6" or maybe the Clearwater Krista's (I have the smaller Glenda's down low on the forks with amber lenses now). Basically they double in price I believe from the Rigids $ to the Baja's $$ to the Clearwaters $$$$ - ouch- something like that. $200 - $400 - $700.

I have not held or used any but the Clearwater's but they feel fantastic in the hand, are made bullet proof, work excellent and with wonderful customer service. Now of course the same may be said for them all. I'd love to someday see a review of all three side by side

One thing is for sure I really would like to give my money to our good friend Tabasco at Ride On Adventure

Yes, high beams during daylight. Thanks for the clarification.

The Rigid Industries lights seem to be very similar to the Baja Designs lights. I think they use the same LED manufacturer and the aluminum housing look very similar.
- Baja Designs http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail?ItemNumber=640241 has a bracket designed for the Tenere, offers a wiring harness with a 100% - 50% - Strobe switch, and a limited lifetime warranty, plus the company is an active member of this forum. You can ask them a question and get an answer.
- Rigid Industries http://www.rigidindustries.com/product-p/srseriesspecter6.htm lights a less expensive, has the same expected LED life expectancy, guessing the same warranty (I could not find it on their webpage), you can talk to a tech via phone or email, will offer a dimmer switch in 2013, did I mention less expensive.
- One can purchase (not advertised prices) a 6" SR Series Specter light bar and a pair of Dually lights for about the same price as the OnX 8" light bar.
- Clearwater Lights http://clearwaterlights.com/ does not have a light bar but they do have Gleanda and Krista lights. One year warranty. They are 12 miles from my home.

Just my two yen.
