YEP.... YOU GOT IT!!

LEAKING front rim. At least 3 places. I stopped counting after I found 3 in the first spokes I started soap test on.

I Don't have a very warm fuzzy felling about your product / workmanship.

Nothing short of 100% confidence and compensation for my lost cost's WILL BE ACCEPTABLE!
I checked pressure's when received and front was at 10 lb, rear 38. I never thought to leak test.
I have 200 miles w/ ZERO off road.

Dam, 3 weeks of down time, big efforts to ship and do everything on my end and I get leaking rim back from Woody's Wheel Works :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

You are free to have words against Woody, but as I have heard, he will surely make it right for you, except the down time of course. Last I checked, nobody is perfect. Depending on which rim you got, I thought a dirt bike style rim needed an inner tube. Does yours?

I've never heard of anything that severe - I know you're frustrated, but Woody's a great guy and he'll make it right. Have you tried reaching out to him first before venting publicly?

Posting on the weekend would as he has would almost guarantee he hasn't bothered to work through the problem before just venting to vent.

I understand frustration when something goes wrong BUT, you gotta work the problem before you can work the internet.

I know Woody and his outfit and I can guarantee if the OP can conduct himself in a business like fashion he will get 100% satisfaction. I can also guarantee that if he is a tool about the ordeal he will continue to post about how he was wronged by the world.

Let's see how this pans out and hope the OP can post the Paul Harvey when he has it.

I look forward to posting about a great outcome. It's not so great now.

In the meantime I can report my experience w/o prejudice or intention to bad mouth.

It's a huge safety issue. I was fortunate to have found a deflated front before I jumped on the bike.

Maybe the internally sealed spoke nipples have problems??
I hope not. The bike will be down for a month or longer now.

Hopefully Woody will agree to pay for 2nd day shipping and speedy return w/ a small reimbursement ($50.) for labor / handling.

I feel ya Zep. We've all been there in one way or another. Luckily, we've got fantastic businesses/vendors working for US, and 9.9/10 they'll make it right.

Wish you the best - I'm subscribed to this thread anticipating a positive outcome on your behalf.

Glad you talked to Woody, not even a thought in my mind he wouldn't take care of the issue for you.. I have used them for many bikes and have always been 100% satisfied about there work/craftsmanship.. They are a topnotch shop and will make it right, I feel your frustration/disappointment with having paid for something and then not to have it work.. But it will get fixed and this will all be a distant memory, what did you do with your stock wheels? Wanna sell them?

I'm glad you got the outcome that we all knew you would, what I don't understand is why you felt the need to lash out the way you did. It sounds to me like you started pissing and moaning in an effort to do damage to the reputation of a well respected vendor, without even contacting said vendor first.

Could you imagine his frustration? All those dollars and time and you have a leaking rim and no backups. Peel me off the ceiling! Again Woody to the rescue and a bunch of guys that have been reminded of what not to do. Zepfan, good to see the leaky rim issue will be resolved simply and quickly. Let us know the when you have the new wheels mounted. Photos please.

Man, I didn't think I was out of place!
I'm a contractor and if my work aint perfect I hear about it BIG TIME.

And yes... think about it on my end. It all started with my buying a demo model with a dented rear rim and the dealer Veys, in Lemon Grove telling me a bunch of lies on the service records and not taking any responsibility on helping me with the rim. I spotted the dent seconds before riding away and told the dealer but I wanted my S 10 and drove off with the dealer telling me they would "work with me". HA! On the first off road ride the 2nd day of having the bike I broke a spoke and the rim warped.

Getting the rims to ship and jonesing to get the rims back and $1340. paid leads to modest frustration. It's a big effort to do all of this.

I'll report what Woody finds. I was concerned on how the sealed rims would hold up in the long run and to have a failure out of the box is well...... dangerous!

Woody made quick work on the rim and I might have my wheel bye Monday! ::015::

I hope the sealer holds up. (life of the rim??)

There is allot of flexing going on.
If the sealer they use is pliable ( not rock solid / hard ) then I imagine better sealing capabilities around the nipples w/ better chance for longevity.
You cant adjust the spokes once the sealer is applied.

I was contemplating running tubes, as I wondered how durable the sealer is.

Well I can always run tubes. :D

Peace, out

Let me speak as a vendor on this forum, and someone who is proud of the customer service I provide...

I think the objection is it seemed that you complained in public before contacting or hearing back from Woody. (If I have that wrong, please correct me.) As a contractor, I believe you would not appreciate that if it happened to you.

We, (especially Woody) are all very service oriented, and feel it is our duty to make any problems right with the customer, but have to be given the chance! We all understand the frustration, the expense and the downtime when something doesn't go right, but it really doesn't help the situation to complain first to the people who can't do anything about it!

I don't have a dog in this fight, but am speaking up because I just don't feel it was a reasonable approach for long-term success in the world. The title is "LEAKING RIM....... a note to Woody" It really should have been in the form of a PM to Woody...

Ok, enough ::002::

Time to get some work done so I can ride...

Your frustration wasn't out of place, the manner in which you expressed it so publicly before talking to the vendor was out of place IMHO. Anyone who deals with customers "hears about it" from time-to-time when things go wrong; personally I like an opportunity to make things right before the story is blasted publicly to a group of my current and potential customers. I'm betting you would appreciate the same courtesy from your clients, no?

And why on earth would you take delivery of a motorcycle (new, used, or demo) with a potential safety issue in the first place?

Point taken, You are correct. I would be upset (very) if someone posted something about my work before I was told about it.

The cause and response would be about the same though. This is the FIRST sealer failure for Woody.
I wondered before the purchase if it was the right approach. Bad karma ???
