Hobster turned me on to these in another post and they deserve their own thread

Hobster said "If you are wanting to ride longer and feel better on the buttocks, you might want to look into LD Comfort shorts. Many Iron Butt Long Distance riders swear by them and they do a great job of wicking away the sweat from the ole cheeks!!!!"

I have seen a lot of recommedations for wicking synthetic under shorts and shirts but have never been able to make a decision on this topic. I have some
ok gear (bicycle shorts and synthetic shirt) and long ago gave up on cotton. On Hobsters recommndation I took a long shot and ordered the LD gear. It showed up like two days later just before a planned three day ride..nice suprise that had not been the plan. I wore them this weekend on a 1000 mile three day ride...dirt and gravel for 200 miles, goat trails, back roads and some slab with temperatures from 45 to 101. Without a doubt the best undergear product out there; flawless construction, perfect seam placement, great fit, excellent wicking. This is the best gear money ever spent, no question about it. I will be ordering a second set this week. Undershorts, short and long sleeve shirts. If you do not have these you need to order them. They will make your day (or multiple days) in the much more fun.

For me personally, the main butt ailment I have during longer rides is muscle fatigue, not chafing or some skin-related issue. I'd be curious to hear how LD Comfort helps with fatigue, if it does at all.

Currently I wear these:

Jockey Sport Performance Midway Brief. They're a polyester/spandex blend and do a reasonable job of wicking and cooling. A two pack runs about $16 at a Jockey outlet store. They're seamless in the seating area as well.

The "generic" wicking shorts seem to work pretty good for me, except when it gets into the higher temps. I've thought about trying the LD shorts, but just can't get past the price tag!

I have the shorts and long-sleeve shirt and love them. When it's hot, I soak the shirt and open the sleeve vents on my jacket and it's like having air-conditioning.

I have had the same pair of LD shorts and long sleeved shirt for close to four years and they are still going strong. I agree with the first post and I think the best riding garment purchase I've ever made. Combine these with some ventilated outer gear and your good for the 95 to 100F stuff. When it was above 100F (when I lived in Texas) I didn't go out at all though. Guess my Scottish blood had its limits.

I also wear the Jockey brand shorts with built in support. I have found these to be great in the heat and long trips. Also easy to wash out at night and fast drying.'

I also use the LD comfort shorts -
Will be ordering some here in a bit.
Love the feel and the quick washing and drying of the garment.
It is quite simply the nuts.!!

+1 for the jockey sport briefs. I use to use underarmour underwear at work and the sticking on the back. Goes right across both cheeks. A 3 pack for jockey's was $19.99 at an outlet mall near me. Very happy and plan on buying more.

The LD Comfort shorts are pricey. But they work better for me so I don't mind the expense.

Bicycle shorts were somewhat better than regular cotton underwear. Ex Officio wicking briefs were better yet. LD Comfort have been the best for me for long days. The Ex Officios I keep for short days or non-riding days as they pack small and wash/dry easily.

I also use the Ex Officio under shorts and they work well. I also have Zone Performance Wear and cycling shorts. For six years I averaged 10,000 training miles a year on a triathon bike when shorts are very important. When I raced I wore a no pad short or speedo. Riding a motorcycle with the Ex Officio is good though I will give the LD Comfort shorts a try. If I like them I will purchase a second pair and the tights.

Any concerns with advertised sizing?

I've been thinking in investing in the LD stuff and am also curious about sizing.

I've got the LDs...they are ok, I have found that Jockey has similar design and same material for about 1/5th the cost (though legs are not as long) and work just as good.

I bought the LD XL (size for my fat a**)...and they're too big...would prefer an L.
