Wow, that's a white ES. Over here the white was a '13. Y'all must have had more than one year of white. (or it was custom painted)

Tenere Guy also has one it’s 8 gallon.
its very nice but would be to tall and heavy for me, stock tank range is well over 200 miles so I’m ready to take a break by then.

I know that tank. I worked on it during one of the IBRs when the fuel lines came loose because someone had left the keeper off. The vent/overflow lines are a bit larger than OEM and needed new lines to stay in place correctly. I replaced the OE lines with correct size ones. My recollection is that I had to buy hose on a guess of the length and it was just a little shorter than I wanted, but we were on the clock and the riders doing the rally two up needed to be on the bike and moving. They had ordered overnight parts, but I wired the lines in place with the recommendation to get the OE keeper part installed after the rally. Kevin & Lynda Weller were the owners then. He has passed on.

The quality of the tank is first rate. I'm pretty sure that's one of @~TABASCO~ 's tanks.

the gentleman has passed and his bike is going back to standard to be sold on, i managed to get hold of the tank by luck, the guy richard who advertised the standard one on facebook marked place, just said standard tank taken off a new bike for a larger one, i saw the add and asked about the larger one and where did it come from was it USA etc, and richard said the largher one may comer availablre as he was dealing with getting the bike re commissened to sell on and mentioned the bike was taken to the usa for iron butt ralleys gave me links to the ralleys
that the owner had used the bike on, so i was lucky as he put the oem tank back on and sold me the large one got a 3 hr drive tomorrow to pick it up thought it mat be a TABASCO tank

You will love the paint work on that tank. It's absolutely beautiful in person. I had a 8.2 gal super tank made for my S10 long ago as well, but not near as nicely styled as yours and I coated it with bedliner as a secondary containment process. Even then it was close to $1k usd all in. The paint makes it a lot more expensive. Kev told me what he paid for that tank. I'm hoping you got it cheaper!

For me, I went from using an aux tank with the stock tank and ~11 gallons to just the 8.2 Gal tank, actually losing range. At the time I had stopped doing rallies and wanted to match my wife's GSA range for simplicity in fuel stops. It worked well. Since then the '15 with the super tank has moved on and done it's own IBR with the new owner.

Really want to have a go at doing one of these, will get round to it some time, how much higher is the centre section.

You long range guys are studs. I did one saddlesore 1000 on my ultra classic just to get the license plate bracket. 1027 miles in a bit over 18 hrs was enough for me, and that was with a cup holder, loud radio and comfy highway bars!

I've read up on the IBR and am amazed at the prep work that goes into that event. It seems like a lifestyle more than a simple event.

It's a hobby. From '04 to '11 nearly every vacation time I took was to do an endurance rally. All over the Western US since I was living in Portland, OR at the time. I moved to UT in '11 and continued to do endurance rallies with my wife, she riding her own bike, up to about '22 when she stopped riding. We had slowed down to doing 8-12 hour rallies instead of 24-80 hour ones.

The IBR is the only rally the Iron Butt Association actually puts on, ever other year. But to prepare people ride other endurance rallies. You see an amazing amount of the country and go places you would never think to go while getting bonuses during a rally. There is a focus that comes with having a plan and then riding that plan. Sometimes everything clicks, sometimes the plan goes to complete crap in a couple of hours. Being able to re-plan, recover, deal with what ever mechanical issues or flats happen and continue on to finish the event is a skill set that takes time to develop.

Since '05 and up until the last few years, I was at every IBR in some capacity. Working as a volunteer for Tech inspection, camera/photo checking at scoring or just what ever needed to be done. Wrangle some trash cans and get ice for the beverage bonus people will be coming in? Sure. Take over checking in riders at a checkpoint so the actual staff can take a dinner break, sure. You rally with the people and share the experiences, challenges and sights/struggles and you develop a bond with those people. I have great friends all over the world from riding motorcycle endurance rallies. All walks of life. I've seen BMW final drives swapped in a parking lot of a Senior Center on a Sunday in Joshua Tree, CA. I've straitened a rider's bent footpeg after he dropped his bike at the start of an IBR, replaced broken windshield screws for a rider and much more. I've come across a rider with the bike on it's side or a flat tire during an event, stopped and helped them get back on the road, then continued my own rally. In one 36 hour rally in NV a rider holed his radiator on his FJR. A rock about 3" in diameter made a hole nearly that size. He found a guy that could weld aluminum, tore it all apart, they worked together on a weekend in the welder's garage and fixed it enough that it would hold coolant, reinstalled it and he still finished the rally with enough points to not be dead last.

The certificate rides are a personal challenge and many get hooked on them for various reasons. The rally riding is a whole different level and type of fun. There is crossover for sure, but the rally riding has a more social context to it. Sometimes you just see a ride and think, I can do that, so you do it. I rode a 150cc scooter for 22 hours to ride over 1k miles all on the Natchez Trace. Just because no one had ever done it and I decided I wanted to be the first to document it. Any bike can cover 1k in 24 hours, some are just more comfortable than others.

drove today to pick it up at tamworth 3 hrs there 3 hours back 6 hr drive tank was £250

TenereGuy also has the large 8 gallon tank on his 2017 Super Tenere, he added bar risers because otherwise the bars would touch the tank when doing full lock turns.
i,m hoping i can get away with rox risers, and not having to use the line extenders with the rox risers theres a £5 kit that allows you to put rox risers on the tenere undo the clutch cable and brake cable and mount slighty differently and the bars move back and forth well bear in mind the rox risers lift it 2" there abouts and the cables are moved not altered so i think i,ll be ok with rox risers and the cable fitting kit will be ok with the tank

Rob i have a set of those risers if need be.
do you have rox risers fitted, i think the ones you have for your gen 2 is different to my gen 1 as on rox risers site they list 2 different part numbers 2010-13 and 14 onwards don,t fotget mines a gen 1

gutted i would of had them other wise
