Laminar Lip vs MRA X-creen

Greetings all,

Been perusing the posts searching for a quiet less buffeting ride for my '12. I have Madstad and Yamaha Tall Screen. I'm running the Gt-Air Shoei. I have the winglets.
If I have visor up, the helmet buffets strongly. Visor closed...wind noise and low frequency rumble. The rumble is the worst. I run professionally molded ear filters at -15b and -25db (the -9db didn't do much) and the rumble has a kind of proximity effect. If I place my hand at the top of the windscreen, the wind noise and some of the buffeting/rumble disappear.

Lots of love for the x-creen here ( http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12193.msg197543#msg197543 )

but I've yet to read anyone's praise or un-praise for the laminar lip. I had real good luck with it on my FJR. I'm leaving towards getting it since it is only$84 and easily accessible in the USA.

Anyone have experience with the laminar lip? I don't want to get it if the X-creen is making the most difference for everyone.
I'm 6' tall. I'm thinking that adding the MRA touring X-creen clamp on.

Thanks for handling yet another thread on taming the wind. Thanks!

I bought a Calcsi tall screen and it was good but not quite the answer. I then added an MRA spoiler to the tall screen and it's now 99% perfect ! The spoiler is adjustable and it makes a surprising difference for not a lot of dosh. The laminar lip will work in the same way just without adjustment.

I've used the Laminar Lip and the MRA Vario Touring screen (similar to the x-creen).

I had a Laminar Lip on my old DL1000 and it worked a treat, however when attached to the stock screen on the S10 I was really disappointed. I was using it in conjunction with the madstad bracket and despite the variety of positions I could put the screen in I couldn't reduce that low frequency rumble or lower the noise to an acceptable level.

I'm still using the MRA Vario Touring screen and love it. The air is very clean, no buffeting and the noise levels are greatly reduced. It's attached to a madstad bracket and I'm using the Cee Bailey wind deflectors as well. I'm 5'11 and have my seat in the high position.

You failed to mention your height, this may make a difference in the response you get and evaluate, I also have a Calsci tall, after I had great success with one on the V-Strom, and very good now. I'm 183cm or just over 6' in old money. I did look at the X-Creen too, but at that point I might as well sit in the car.

Sounds like the answer for me. I'm 6' tall. I'm thinking that adding the MRA touring X-creen clamped, that I'll have the setup that I need. Adding this to my OP.
