This trip started brewing last winter when we were at the International Motorcycle Show in Minneapolis . I just happened to pick up a free map they were handing out at a booth, It was titled “Lake Superior Circle Tour”. On the map it has about 10 waterfalls listed, For there to be waterfalls all around the lake there must be a lot of elevation changes. So I started researching on the internet and it looked a lot better than I had thought.
We figured it out to be about 2,500 miles from here up and around the lake and back, We would need about 5 days.
It ended up being 2,606
I had showed some pictures to our daughter and next thing I knew she said her and Joey were coming too.
So when we got off work on Tuesday before the 4th of July we hit the road.
The first night we made it up to Pikes Peak State Park near McGreger,Iowa.
This is from the overlook at Pikes Peak, of the Mighty Mississippi
The next day we worked our way up to Lake Superior through Wisconsin then to Duluth.
This is the first waterfall we seen on the trip. Amnicon Falls
As we rode up the west side of Lake Superior we went up in the Boundary Waters on the Gunflint Trail. We camped up in there by a lake.
This is at the end of the Gunflint Trail at Sea Gull Lake.
Split Rock Lighthouse.
Gooseberry Falls
We stopped at Grand Portage National Monument.
Lake Superior
I'll work on this more tomorrow, Steve
