Laam Custom Seat - I Declare it is Good

I got my stock seat rebuilt by Seth Laam of Laam Custom Seats about 6 weeks ago, because of recommendations on the forum about his product. I have had limited time to ride due to family, work, weather, etc, but I finally got out on it for a couple of hundred miles over the last few days, and I really like this seat. Seth takes your stock seat and removes all the foam, completely rebuilding it and recovering it. It cost about $200 total, including shipping back to me.

I had purchased a Sargent seat earlier this year, version II, and it just did not work for me, unlike all the other Sargent seats I have had in the past. It was hard and felt funny, and eventually painful.

The Laam seat is comfortable and good looking, and it does not look like a wide tractor seat, which some aftermarket seats look like. It might be two inches wider at the back than stock, but that's about it. It is the final piece of the puzzle for farkling my Tenere at this time.

Mine looks just like the one in the pic in this thread: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=9519.msg158377#msg158377

Thanks for the recommendations, and thanks Seth!

Thanks for the positive review, it's very helpful for when I do eventually get a Tenere & want to change the seat.
I made the terrible mistake of going with Bill Mayer for the seat rebuild on my bike. Terrible seat. Terrible customer service. Terrible experience overall. Avoid like the plague. Someone who won't stand behind their product is someone I don't want to work with.

Well my experince with Bill Mayer was different from yours. I had a BM seat on my last GS12 and I liked it just as much as I do the Laam seat I have on the S10. Customer service was great too.

Have Laam rider and pillion seats on the FJR, great service from Seth on the ride-in appointment. Tenere will make the trip south early next year...can't wait!

I rode down from Tacoma last month to have Seth rebuild my seat in person. Trust me, the trip back was much more comfortable then the ride down! A buddy( on his Tenere also) and I showed up at 8:30 am and we were both done about noon. That gave us time to do a 130 mile loop around Redding and some off road too! ::012:: http://goo.gl/maps/ma0Rf
Seth is a great guy and I'll do what I can to throw buisness his way!

Have a seat in production and should ship this Friday. Just had 8" of snow so it will be a few days before a test ride is completed.

I have tried Sargent's seats twice and sent both back. I tried a Custom Concepts seat and while it was definitely better than stock, my ass would still get sore after 1 and a half or two hours and I would half to get off and rest it. I put my on Thursday. I just got back from a 400 mile ride today (2 gas stops) and my ass felt the same as when I started. The Laam is the seat to have. It is so much better. The only real competition would be a russel, but they are too expendsive and too big in my opinion.

On my first trip after putting the Laam seat on, I was about 250 miles into the trip when I realized that I hadn't even thought about the seat. Great seat.

Been trying to get a hold of Seth Laam (Laam seats) is he still in business? Talked to him last summer said he was waiting for a Tenere seat pan to be sent back from a previous customer. Have not heard from him since.

As a solo business man, if he takes a vacation, the phone might not get answered. Send him an email and give him a couple of days or maybe even a week.

Seth is definitely still in business and doing very well for himself. Best time to catch him is early mornings around 7:30AM PST via phone.

Old thread...had my ride in appointment last May!
