I actually don't see it like that. KTM would LOVE it if you buy a white one.
They have a few things that differentiate the orange and white for the other models too.
TrikePilot has the white one. I have the orange one. He gets to call his "his Swedish mistress"
He KNOWS I can't reply with an equivalent affection for mine.
Hey Greg, my 16 never flames out! Ever. (I have the JD tuner setup for me by Slavens. In fact, I let Slavens pretty much set my bike up based on questions they asked me)
However, I'd LOVE one of the rumored 2-strokes coming!
I'm just bugging you. Both my 2011, and 2014 perform flawlessly. Once jetted for ballpark elevation, they rarely go wrong (fouled a few plugs, operator error, but it's a 1 minute job to swap a new one in, and I always carry a fresh spare)
Up to 2016 the 2 strokes were decent. In 2017, they finally fixed the shitty starter design, and put it on the bottom side of the motor (just like Beta did). They also lightened the bikes, and put in a balancer shaft to quell vibes. I've ridden a few 2017s (250 and 300) and they feel like over powered bicycles. Light, and the perfect tool for the type of riding we do in the mountains.
For 2019, they will bring out direct injection. This will be as close to EFI as a 2 stroke can be, plus as a bonus, they will come with a separate oil tank, and the mixture will be done according to load/condition etc...
All that said, my next bike will not be a 2019 300, it will be a 2017, or 2018, lightely used, and properly equipped by someone else. The 2019s will be in high demand, and will cost as much ($1000 over a 2018). Guys will be quick to change their one year old perfectly good 300, just to get latest/greatest.
At any rate, I'm enjoying my 2014 immensly. Putting a ton of hours on it. I will likely be ready for a new dirt bike at the end of this season.
