Just in case anybody cares. My KTM 1290 SA is back in the shop again. Today makes two weeks. It was in for two weeks, then I had it for two weeks, and now it's back in.

The dealer has a 2014 S10 with less than 700 miles. I'm seriously considering paying my stupid tax and trading back to one of the best bikes I've ever owned.

The KTM suspension is not ready for prime time.

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure wasn't for me, horses for courses, too big, fast and not as nice to ride as the ST10 or the Africa Twin, test drove all three and eliminated the Duke right off, saying that id have loved a ride on the 1190R had one been available.

Our local vendor of things orange says that at least for some of the early 1290s, the crash bars are too solid. So much sot that there've been some 1290s with bent frames instead of just the bars.

I wonder if that could be translated to "Frame too soft?" Maybe in an attempt to keep weight down?

do tell.
I rode a 1190R (21/18) with cave man suspension. Great bike. I'm considering it. But I don't want a bike that spends time at the steelers all the time.

That 1290 Super Adventure is always in the back of my mind. However, I have heard far too many stories about how unreliable it is.

The S10 may not be fast or sexy, but she is sure and steady and will rarely if ever see the "stealership."
