I just went to a Home Depot and they cut 2 keys for me with no issue. The S10 key isn't anything special.

Now, my Ninja 650 needed a custom cut key since the damned thing was ~1/2 in. longer than the largest key and big box store had.

What are you guys doing for replacement keys? Is there a generic key blank available at one of the big box stores that they can cut for me
Some have reported success at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. I didn't have any luck there, but I went to a regular locksmith who had the blanks to cut the key.

My suggestion would be call wherever you plan to get your key copied beforehand and check their inventory. You're looking for ILCO blanks with the number X248 YM63.

By chance I had a short key made that I use for the seat and luggage. It does not start Tenere.

I was under the impression, that the ST has som kind of electronically immobilizer (don't know the proper word in english) in the key? I got a red key with my ST and was told to never ever loose that key -since it has to be used to program new keys with.

Am I missing the point or is the immobilizer a European thing?

I can't speak for the newer bikes but my 2013 doesn't have anything like that in the U.S. Just a normal key.

US bikes don't have the immobilizer.

What blank did you use for the short key? I've been looking for one of those.
