Just for the comparison...

TKC80 at 1000 mls.

TC is ON for 95% of time. TC2 to be precise.

This is my first set ever, and I am literally inlove with this rubber. Freaking amazing. The only downside will be the mileage. I don't see it doing more than 2000mls. Will see...
KAROO3 is next one, for the sake of testing.

Btw, 21psi f/r all the time.

Hey Cosmic,

I'm betting if you LOVE the TKC's, you will like the mileage of the Karoo's better.
BUT, they are not quite as good off road as those TKC's.

Thus, the Big Blocks!
As good as the TKC's. Promising as much or more lifespan. (New compound anyways)
And MUCH CHEAPER!

Be careful though. If you get used to lower lifespans, you are a candidate for tire slutness. :)

But this is the PERFECT bike for tire-crackheads. It deserves to be ready at any moment to play dirtbike.
With the right tires, it's a 2-wheel transformer.

There are a set of TKC 80's sitting on the rack in front of me at work EVERY day, so I'll end up buying them.. but after that, I don't know. The Karoo 3's do look like a performer. I'm on my 1st K60 front (8k + on it) and my 2nd K60 rear, no real complaints thus far. Surprised at the street grip of them. Ride with TC off and have a very heavy throttle hand.

Big Blocks are unavailable where I live. :(
If the K3 can perform almost as good as TKC, with 50% more of a lifespan, then it will be my tire 4ever.
Karoo's are even little bit cheaper than TKC. Hurrah!

Sounds very familiar. I'm not expecting my K3s to make it much beyond 2.5K miles. Time will tell.

My wife's Anakee II always hooked up better than my K60s in most every situation I encountered. I'm sorry to see they stopped making them.

I ran through several sets of Anakee IIs on a GS. I loved those tires. I have not tried the III, but I don't see it being nearly as good off pavement.

Thought the same but was pleasantly surprised how well the A3's found traction on hard pack and gravel roads. The AII's felt better in muddy/sandy conditions but not as agile on the street as the 3's.

I was able to get a solid 7,000 miles on that set before the front tire began showing wear bars. The 1st tire I have ever experienced that wear pattern.

I want really bad to tell you how good it hooks up. But now I think I have learned something about myself.......

I love fresh rubber. It always feels like it's way better than the last tire. LoL

Not very objective, I suppose.

That's the big block, correct? Seems like the knobs are alot taller than the TKC80.

Yes. And since I bought it many months ago, I assume it is NOT the newer Big Block. That's why I bought another today. I want to back-to-back them to see for myself the difference.

That's a very nice photo!

Off topic question - Is that a 964 in the background?

Wait...you just installed a new rear, and bought another one at the same time? Buddy, you have a problem. You've just gone one or two steps beyond Tire Whore status, and I don't even know what that means. I'm forming a team for an intervention.

Tire junkie?

Really, I bought the next tire simply to have it already there for my next service. Why wait? :)

And yea,I don't mind being the labrat for my Tenere brothers. But keep in mind I'm not really the best reviewer. Like I said earlier, I hardly ever met a fresh tire that didn't make me smile.

The first step in your recovery is to admit to yourself that you have a problem. I think this is going to take a while.

As a fellow junkie I'm the opposite. I'm not sure what I'm buying next. I do love the looks of the knobby style tires, but due to whatever factors I don't feel I'm getting much benefit from them. I so rarely take my bike in a muddy situation where it might help. I can go through 3 or 4 rear tires between mud sections, and if I happen to do it when the tire is mostly worn, is there really any benefit? Those are the kind of questions that have me wondering about which way I'm going next. The Anakee II would be a natural choice for me if it were still available. May try a III, or maybe do another Battlewing, or who knows...maybe an Anakee Wild (did they every make those?), I'm just not sure what I'm doing next. Pretty certain it will not be another Karoo III. Too much money, for too short a life, and no real benefit to me.
